How We Met (Brandy's Version)

First comes work, then comes marriage

Matt and I first met at my current job- Outback Steakhouse. I worked with Matts brother, Kyle, at the time. Kyle and I bonded over our similar work habits (both being anal over the “Outback Standard”) and quickly became friends. Kyle had mentioned that his bro would be joining our team. Jokingly, I asked if he was cute! Kyle being the proud brother he is, immediately affirmed. Although not my intentions, he was right. I was asked to train Matt as a waiter, though that wouldn't be his position when hired. Like I had mentioned before, I take my job very seriously. It wasn’t long until I found out how Matt wouldn’t retain all the information I was spewing. I was irritated to say the least! Could I blame him? (Yes!) It wasn’t until weeks later that we arranged a get-together at Bushwhackers (a country bar that encourages line dancing). Now, I have two left feet and dancing has never been a strong suit of mine. *insert eye roll here* Matt asked me to join him on the dance floor that night. Man, can that boy dance!! He swung me in circles around the crowd and it was in that moment that I sparked interest in Matt. And well....the rest is history!

How We Met (Matt's Version)

A "Bloomin" Love Story

I was coming home from a summer spent in Fort Collins with my best friend Casey. Living back at home and in need of a job, my brother Kyle suggested apply at Outback. Fortunately, my guardian brother cousin (Mr Pickles) was the acting manager and roommate of Kyle, so the job was assured sight unseen. Brandy was my trainer on the first shift and I’m sure had the pleasure of trying to teach me to write and print tickets on one of the oldest, most outdated computer systems known to man. I tried to pay attention, but I like to think I learn best from experience and in the moment. She thought differently. The restaurant was an exciting place unlike any other job and working 6 days a week became my life. Countless late nights and busy shifts spilled over into many parking lot gatherings throwing Frisbee's and pints at the local bar. Brandy quickly became someone I loved working with. Hard working, confident, mature, a naturally funny person and very cute in those dress blacks. I was a server assistant at the time and found myself always running food and helping in her section. We started hanging out regularly, and looking back at a night at Lloyd's after talking, it occurred to me that she was becoming much more to me than just another co-worker. She is someone unlike anyone I’ve ever met and I’ll always remember how it felt falling for her and knowing in my heart she was the one. I’ll never forget the "honeymoon days" working at Outback where I would meet my future wife. She claims I never asked her to be my girlfriend on the dance floor at Bushwhackers, but we know which of us has the better memory.
