In August of 2019, Sarah’s friend Jess invited her over for a Shabbat dinner. Jess had just moved back to Brookline from New York City with her husband, and were settling into their new home down the street from Sarah. While Jess was showing Sarah around the new digs, she mentioned that she had a really great real estate agent. JESS: “You should really meet our agent! He’s super nice, charming, and I think he lives around here! I should ask him if he’s single though.. You interested?” Jess shows Sarah a photo from Adam’s Facebook page. SARAH: “Sure why not, he’s cute! Give him my number.” A couple weeks go by, and Adam receives a text from Jess. JESS: “Hi Adam, I have a friend that I think you'd get on with. I'm not sure if you're single though. Also, she's Jewish, but I'm not sure if that matters. Anyways, let me know!" ADAM: "HA - Sure! sounds good. What's her #?" Jess shares Sarah’s phone number with Adam, and texts her the next day. Their conversation covers all kinds of interview-like topics: where you work, what you do for fun, etc. When it comes to planning a date, Adam and Sarah make an interesting discovery… THEY’RE NEIGHBORS (he lived at 20 Dean Road, and she at 38 Dean Road)! Their first date was September 25th, 2019 at a bar on Newbury St. Even though they were close neighbors, they saw each other once or twice per week. Sarah was traveling a lot for work, and Adam was running around the city renting apartments and selling houses. It wasn’t until the end of February 2020 that Adam “locked it down before lockdown…” As you all know, in March 2020, the COVID pandemic caused the US to lockdown for an unknown amount of time. Sarah and Adam witnessed themselves and the world go through a period of grief that had no end in sight. They formed their own “COVID bubble,” and got to really know each other through sharing family stories, cooking dinners, practicing yoga, taking walks with Adam's dog, Michael “Jackson” Pollock, and so much more. The support and love that they built in quarantine would be a reflection of where they are today.
