NO GLASS ON BEACHES. 4. Wear Sunscreen. ITS MORE INTENSE THAN IT FEELS. 5. Island time…..there’s a reason that is a saying. REALAX, don’t be in a hurry. 6. CELL SERVICE is very spotty. Don’t expect anything different. 7. When you are on the sidewalk getting ready to cross a street, remember….vehicles are coming from your LEFT. LOOK BOTH WAYS. 8. RULES OF THE ROAD. DRIVE ON THE LEFT. PAY ATTENTION. DON’T SPEED. WEAR YOUR SEATBELT.DON’T EVER BE ON YOUR CELL PHONE. 9. IF SOMEONE IS TAILGATING YOU, at the first straight stretch of road, pull over to the left and let them pass. THATS WHAT WE DO. 10. HAVE FUN, Be Safe, Don’t drive if you are impaired. Call for a ride!
Question

What will the weather be like?

Answer

In May, the average temperature lies between 71-84 degrees. It can get slightly chilly at night if there is a breeze, so bring a light jacket or sweatshirt! Hurricane season runs June- October.

Question

What is the attire for the ceremony and reception?

Answer

Erin likes to say "it's not a beach wedding, it's a wedding that happens to be near a beach." Cocktail/semi-formal wear. Women in dresses, men in slacks and nice button-up tops or dress shirts. No flip flops please. No Tevas (DAD!).

Question

Should I bring a gift?

Answer

NO! Your presence is the gift! We are so excited to see and celebrate with everyone!

Question

What do I need to pack? (STJ Specific Things)

Answer

- Sunglasses and hat— Essentials! - Sunscreen, coral reef save— more expensive on island, but make sure you check this if oversized - Buy spray (for being on the deck at night, on the beach at dusk) - Cash (tips, taxi, ferry, some cash only establishments) - Passport if plan to do boat day as we may go to the BVI (British Virgin Islands) - Shoes to hike in— sneakers or sandals (i.e. Tevas, Chacos) are fine, but can get dirty - Beach bag - Reusable water bottle and reusable cup for beach - Small speaker for the beach (let’s coordinate so we don’t have 20 of these) - Dramamine if you get boat or car sick (ask Morgan for details)

Question

I'm a girl and/or anxious-- what do I need to pack?

Answer

All above things plus... - Toiletries - Make-up - Hair things- brush, headbands, hair ties, pins, clips, straightener, blow dryer, curler (let’s coordinate) - Bathing suits- will be wearing one every day most likely, pack at least a couple for when one is wet - Cover-ups — Not a fashion show ladies, we’re taking gym shorts and oversized t shirts - 1-2 cute outfits for going out to dinner/bars - Wedding day outfit— dress and shoes, bridesmaids, highly recommend a short dress to change into for after the wedding! - Boat day things: bathing suit, cover up, long sleeve sun shirt, hat, sunglasses - Flip flops - Sneakers or sandals for hiking as above - PJs!

Question

Where should I book a house?

Answer

The wedding party and family will be staying in Rendevous Bay, which is about a 10 minute drive from downtown Cruz Bay. There are several villas in this general area! There are also hotel and condo type accommodations in and around Cruz Bay. Coral Bay and East End would be a farther drive from our home base for the week— about 40 minutes or more.

Question

Where should I get groceries?

Answer

There are a few grocery stores on the island. The closest to the villa is Dolphin Gourmet Market near the Westin. Other nearby are Pine Peace Market (small), Starfish Market, Dolphin Market (Cruz Bay). There is also Dolphin Market and Love City Market in Coral Bay. Grocery stores cell liquor, wine, and beer. They do take credit cards, but tend to have a minimum!

Question

You drive on the left side of the road??

Answer

Yes! Be mindful of this! See above for more "Rules of the Road" by Captain Jack!

Question

How long is the journey to the island?

Answer

From Philadelphia, the flight to St Thomas takes about 4 hours non-stop. From Boston, the total travel time to St Thomas is about 7 hours including a layover. From the St Thomas airport, you take an approximately 25-30 min taxi ride to the ferry. The foot passenger ferry is about a 15-20 minute trip, while the car ferry is about 40 minute trip. From the Cruz Bay, St John ferry dock, the drive to Rendevous Bay is about 10 minutes. Traveling to and from the island takes a full day!

Question

Do I have to stay the whole week?

Answer

Short answer: NO! Long answer: There is lodging and events planned for the wedding party and family between Tuesday, May 2nd to Tuesday, May 9th, 2023. As stated above, traveling to the island takes a full day, and therefore we would recommend against traveling for a 4 day weekend, as this would only give you 2 days to enjoy the island. That being said-- we love and appreciate any time you can dedicate to our celebration!! The main planned events can be found on the "Schedule" page on our website. These "big" events include the wedding ceremony and reception on Friday, May 5th, and a boat day on Sunday, May 7th. Any more specific questions-- don't hesitate to ask us!

For all the days along the way
