When Zach moved to Miami in December of 2015, he had a 3 year plan. The goal for year 1 was to get established in the city, year 2 was to make friends, and year 3 was to meet his future wife. 2 years and 11 months into it, he had made very little progress on goal #3 and was resigned to trying again in year 4, until he got a notification on Bumble: “Nikki Amanda says Hey there”. For their first date, Zach suggested La Lupita, for Taco Tuesday. In response, Nikki sent him a picture of the fried chicken sandwich with truffle fries at Le Chick. Zach could not unsee those fries, and made a reservation for 7:30 that night. Zach picked Nikki up from her apartment in an uber, and was waiting outside the car with the door open. The whole ride there, Zach explained what an information systems consultant does, and Nikki pretended to care. After a couple gin cocktails, Zach ordered the burger, Nikki got the chicken, and the truffle fries to share. When the food was ready, the waitress put the burger down, before picking it back up and apologizing. “I’m so sorry, they messed up your burger and added truffles to it. I’ll have it replaced for you.” Before Zach could respond, Nikki jumped in: “He’ll take it.” And that’s when he knew that he wouldn’t have to worry about goal #3 anymore.
