When Rose and Phillip are asked, "So, how did you two meet?" They joke that they're a "modern day love story" or "There's an App for that." Rose and Phillip both "swiped" on one another on the Bumble App. On this particular app, women begin the interaction. If she doesn't reach out within 24 hours, the connection is lost. Phillip was not going to lose this one! He extended the connection time to 48 hours. Rose noticed his eagerness to connect so she reached out. The first interaction Rose sent was a GIF. Phillip swiftly replied with a GIF and the conversation took off. They spoke for about two weeks before getting together. Their first date story is a good one (Rose likes to point out that she had to dictate where and what food type...). You can ask them about that! After two weeks of dating Phillip had to leave California to film a movie. Rose hardly knew him and was nervous about how strongly she felt so quickly. On a dark and stormy night, Rose had to work in Newport and Phillip had to drive across the country to Michigan. Rose sat alone in her hotel room, thinking of what could have been, losing focus on her preparation for the conference the next day. Rain was pounding against the hotel windows, lighting flashed across the sky, then there was a loud knock at her hotel room door. Rose had no idea who was at the door. She wasn't expecting anyone. She asked who was there and hears, "It's me." She recognized the voice, flung the door open, and there, standing before her is the guy she spoke to for room service. Just kidding. Phillip drove 3 hours in the rain to surprise her! He wasn't leaving for Michigan until the next day as travel plans had been delayed. Phillip refused to lose her due to circumstance and wanted to prove his commitment to her. They spent the evening together wishing that tomorrow would never show its face. As the rain disappeared and the sun rose, reality knocked at their door. Phillip had to leave. Phillip told Rose "I f***in' love you girl!", that she's the one and he'll do whatever it takes to make it work. Here they are about to get married!
If Phillip hasn't already showed you the engagement video, "Where's my wine?", is the kicker of the engagement. Rose had planned just about everything they were going to do for the two and a half days they were going to be on the Amalfi Coast. Once they settled, Phillip proactively checked to see how they would get to Capri the next day for their boat ride. Come to find out, there were not any options to take them in time for the departure. Rose is deflated because she had planned the day trip around activities and romance. Phil's now alarmed because they didn't do their due diligence ahead of time to see how far any of the planned activities were. Phillip quickly looks up where the restaurant for dinner tomorrow is. This is where Phillip had planned to propose. He emailed the restaurant ahead of time, had everything planned and ready to go. As Rose is battling the remaining torture of her motion sickness and disappointment, Phillip gasps, "Rose, the restaurant is 4 hours away from where we're staying!" Rose accepts defeat. Everything she wanted to do is ruined. Phil's frantic, Rose is upset, what a way to start their dream trip to Italy. ::Cut to the next day:: Rose is seated on the balcony of the hotel taking in the morning. Phillip frantically pulls the owner of the hotel aside informing him how his proposal plans are ruined and needs help to find a new restaurant. The owner grabs Phillip, who is 6'4, and throws him into a Harry Potter sized closet. Hands him the phone to speak to an owner of a restaurant and the two get to work. Phillip returns, their two friends arrive, and off they go to an impromptu day in Capri. The four of them had an incredible adventure on the island of Capri and head back to the hotel. Phillip informs Rose that he made dinner plans for everyone and that he was going to head down to the restaurant to make sure everyone's food restrictions could be honored because they were getting the chef's choice menu. Phillip is off! Rose was being stalled by her friend Fatima. This felt like any other night. The two of them begin the walk down to the restaurant. It's hot, their makeup is dripping, Rose's hair is starting to frizz, she's hangry, she's tired, she's glorious. They get to the restaurant and have to climb 10 flights of stairs up to the roof! Rose kept saying, "He better have a bottle of wine waiting for me after this". Rose, drenched in sweat, walks onto the dark roof. She pulls out a chair to sit and Phillip yells, "NO! Sit here. I want you to sit here." Rose thinks his behavior is odd, but does as he requests. She plops down and asks, "Where's my wine?" Phillip says, "It's in front of you." Rose looks down, and sees a green bottle of water. "That's water!", she exclaims. Phillip shakes his head and responds, "Rose, look down." BING. It all makes sense now. A lavender box with a love note sits before her. The end of the note instructs her to turn around if she would like to begin their next chapter. As she turns, Phillip is on one knee.
