There are lots of fun things to do all around the resort itself! Alpine slide: Twist and turn down 1,980 Feet of track built directly into the ski slope on a two-wheeled sled with handle brake for speed control! Tickets for the Alpine slide include a Scenic Chairlift Ride to the top of the Mountain. Axe Throwing: Test your lumberjack skills on the mountain at the Foggy Goggle Axe House! Disc Golf: Take in stunning views of the mountain while enjoying fresh air and the challenge of trying to sink a frisbee into a goal to earn points. Get a group together for some fun friendly competition! Paddle Boats, Paddleboards, and Kayaks: After a short chairlift ride and a hike you will arrive at the top of the mountain where you can paddle on a sunny summer afternoon. Rock Wall: Enjoy the thrill on a outdoor 24-foot vertical rock wall! Trampoline Thing: Jump up to 24 feet high in the air with the trampoline thing! Attached by harness to bungee cords you can defy gravity and try some flips!
The park consists of 4,062 acres of mountain terrain in Somerset County, with a 63-acre Laurel Hill Lake as the focal point of the park. Boating: Rent a boat and enjoy the lake. Boat rental at the beach has: rowboats, paddle boats, canoes, kayaks, hydrobikes, and stand up paddle boards. Fishing: The lake has warm water and cold water fish. Both Laurel Hill Creek and Jones Mill Run are excellent trout streams. Hiking: The park offers 15 miles of trails of varying difficulty. Trails are wide and easy to follow with routed signs posted. List of trails and length available at the link. Many of these trails allow for mountain biking as well Swimming: A 1,200 foot sand beach is open from 8 am to sunset with lake access.
Whitewater Rafting: Ohiopyle is known for the fast-flowing whitewater of the Youghiogheny River. Go on an adrenaline-pumping adventure of the busiest section of whitewater east of the Mississippi River, ranging from Class III to IV. Choose from fully guided and guide-escorted rafting tours that provide all necessary equipment. Family Friendly Floats: Explore the middle yough which offers nine miles of gentle rapids for a leisurely float. The Middle Youghiogheny River has class I and II rapids and time to swim offering fun for all! Laurel Highlands Hiking Trail: Spreading 70 miles from Ohiopyle state park to the Conemaugh Gorge near Johnstown the trail offers pretty scenery and challenging hiking trails. Baughman Rock Overlook: Enjoy a panoramic vista of the Youghiogheny River Gorge, you can choose to hike a steep, mile and a half trail if you're in the mood for adventure or opt out and park in the Main Street Parking area!
Bike the Great Allegheny Passage: Hop on the GAP, a nearly-level rail trail at the Ohiopyle trailhead. The GAP spans 150 miles beginning in Pittsburgh, weaving through the Laurel Highlands and ultimately ending in D.C. Ohiopyle offers places to rent bikes as well. Start at Ohiopyle, pedal east along the banks of the Youghiogheny River for a scenic 11-mile ride to Confluence, another charming trail town. Grab a bite to eat, shop and walk around the town, then head back to Ohiopyle.
