The Wedding Website of Robyn Chaffee and Max Morrison

Travel Note

Salida

Salida is a beautiful town in the Rockies that is dear to our hearts! Max's parents have a home in Howard, about 20 minutes away, and we all frequently meet in Salida to thrift, get some coffee, or enjoy the various festivals in the park next to the river. Check out the Things to Do section for more fun in the area! The weather should be great this time of year, but it is Colorado so anything is possible. We recommend checking the local weather before packing for this trip.

Flight

Denver International Airport

DIA is the largest airport in Colorado and is about a 3 hour drive away from Salida. We recommend renting a car here (rates will probably be best) and enjoying the scenic drive through the Rockies on Highway 285, take a stop in Fairplay, the inspiration for South Park, and enjoy the wonderful views on the way to Salida. The I70 route will take a little longer but you can stop Leadville to pick out your locally made Melanzana, the best hoodies around so make a shopping appointment now! This route will also take you by the Collegiate Peaks, four 14,000 ft mountains, for some stunning views. Also feel free to reach out to some of our local friends and arrange a carpool (maybe offer to get some gas and snacks on the way)

Flight

Colorado Springs Airport

This little airport is only a 2 hour 15 minute drive from Salida but it has less flights than DIA. Bonus to the small airport, you will be in and out in no time! We frequently fly out of this airport and have never been in the security line for longer than 10 minutes. Again we recommend renting a car and enjoying the drive on 115 to highway 50 through our town of Cañon City! After Cañon, the drive on 50 goes past the Royal Gorge, the highest suspension bridge in America, and through the beautiful Brown's Canyon.

Travel Note

Ubers and Taxis

Part of the allure of mountain towns are their small town vibes. Unfortunately that means there are less amenities you city folk are used to. There is limited access to Uber/Lyft and only one or two taxi services in town. With them being more rare and costly we have tried to offer lodging within reasonable walking distance of Downtown and our venue. Please drink responsibly and enjoy your stay in Salida!

Hotel

Woodland Motel

903 West 1st Street, Salida, CO 81201
 (719)539-4980

The Woodland Motel is a family-owned and operated motel just a half mile down the road from our venue, the Steam Plant, and downtown Salida! We have reserved the entire property for 9/12-9/14 (one room was already booked, feel free to make a new friend). There are various room sizes and types (from standard motel rooms to efficiencies and condos with full kitchens), so make sure to book early if you want your own room or chat with some friends and book the larger rooms together! They are pet friendly so bring your dog on a little vacation and enjoy what Salida has to offer. If you want to stay longer before or after the dates we have selected, you should be able to add an extra night to your booking. You can book by calling and mentioning the Morrison wedding or by using this link to book online: hotels.cloudbeds.com/reservation/licDfm?allotment_block_code=b821981#checkin=2025-09-12&checkout=2025-09-14 The negotiated rate and rooms will be held until August 13, 2025 so plan to book before then!

Hotel

Loyal Duke Lodge

525 West Rainbow Boulevard, Salida, CO 81201
 (833)550-1286

We also have a block of rooms for 9/12-9/14 at the Loyal Duke Lodge which is about 1.5 miles/35ish minute walk from downtown Salida and the Steam Plant. When crossing Highway 50, please use the designated crosswalks with lights for safety. Then you will enjoy a walk through the neighborhood of Salida. You will most likely spot some interesting lawn art and spot some mule deer! You can book here by calling the hotel directly and mentioning the Morrison Chaffee Wedding. Rooms will be held at the group rate until August 13, 2025 so book before then! They are also dog friendly. If you want to stay longer before or after the dates we have selected, you should be able to add an extra night to your booking.

Travel Note

AirBnbs

Salida is home to many vacation rentals and AirBnbs, lots of cute homes in town and mountain cabins in the surrounding areas. Whatever you choose, drive safe and drink responsibly!
