Ironically enough, Catherine and Kyle both call Mathews County, VA home, although that's not where they met. During a summer rowing program, Kyle met Matt Thomas (groomsman), and the two became best friends. Catherine had also rowed with Matt in high school, and the two eventually met through this mutual connection. Catherine swears Kyle was flirting with her while out at Top Golf with friends, while Kyle is adamant that it was in fact Catherine who slid into his Instagram DMs (direct messages). Regardless, the two hit it off and were crazy about each other from the start. This was evident by staying up until 3 AM the first night they started talking. Both knew this was something special and didn't want the conversation to end. After being very transparent about what they were looking for in a person, they made it official a month later. On their one month anniversary, Kyle moved into Catherine's apartment in the Fan due to the Coronavirus pandemic. They've been together ever since and now share a house in Church Hill with their two fur babies, Zane and Hudson!

Catherine turned 30 this past August, and she was making a BIG freaking deal out of it. It was her #GoldenBirthday after all (aka when you turn the same age as the day you were born). Also, turning 30 is just a big deal in general! Along with a few good friends, she planned a golden celebration in the private room at Wong Gonzalez in downtown Richmond. Surrounded by their siblings and close friends, Kyle got down on one knee with Sam Hunt's "Sinning With You" playing in the background. Catherine was so shocked, she didn't even hear Kyle pop the question. She blurted out "You Gotta' Say Something!" even though he most certainly already had. It was absolutely perfect. The best part was being able to celebrate their engagement with all their siblings and friends. It made the night that much more special!
