HOW WE MET

Christmas 2015

ROBERT'S VERSION No one: Rosalee: JEFF, WHO IS YOUR TALL FRIEND!? ROSALEE'S VERSION It was a brisk and cheery December evening when Rosalee and Robert attended a Christmas party of mutual friends. The future betrothed finally began to chat, and it became clear very quickly they had nothing to say to each other. Rosalee noticed Robert was drinking something fancy that he brought with him, and Robert did the gentlemanly thing by offering her a drink. Rosalee took a small sip, felt it immediately burn a hole in her throat, choked, gave it back, and they did not talk again for years. Years passed by and Rosalee and Robert continued to be unaware they were meant to be together. Occasionally seeing each other at events of mutual friends, they continued to never talk or show any interest. Their mutual friend was undaunted by his friends' complete lack of interest in one another, so he sneakily gave Robert Rosalee's phone number, without asking her, and without telling her. So you can imagine Rosalee's surprise when she got a text from Robert inviting her for a drink. The wrath of Rosalee came down like the hammer of Thor. And despite the crackling lightening all around her, she concluded Robert likely had no idea her phone number was given out without her acquiescence, and remembered he was tall and handsome, so decided to go for drinks. The rest is one of the greatest love stories of our age.

THE PROPOSAL

1/1/21

ROBERT'S VERSION One of Robert and Rosalee's favorite places is Mount Laguna, hiking there many times over the two years they dated. After a difficult year in 2020, Robert planned a hike for the first of January to start the new year off on a positive note. The mountain had received a storm recently, and the beginning of the hike was filled with muddy patches and thick snow, making the particular trail chosen by Robert seem unideal to Rosalee. The couple pushed through and eventually made it to the mountainside with clear footing on the Pacific Crest Trail. About 30 minutes into the hike, with a beautiful view, Robert stopped and got down on one knee to pop the big question! ROSALEE'S VERSION Robert: Let's go hiking at Mount Laguna! Rosalee: Great idea. Mount Laguna: I am one unpassable ice block. Rosalee: I can't walk, I am falling over on this ice, maybe we should go back to SD. Robert: No. Rosalee: Well. Let's try the desert side. Mount Laguna at Desert Side: I am an unpassable bog. Rosalee: This is unpassable. Like Mordor. Robert: Since when has a little mud bothered you?? Rosalee (surprised at easy going Robert's determination): Ok let's hike in the mud! Rosalee (tries to pass PCT and hike to summit). Robert: Let's hike this way. Rosalee: Did you know the PCT goes to Canada? People die on this trail. Rosalee: <sings songs she makes up on spot about Canada, moose, and geese> Robert: <PROPOSES!!!!!!> Rosalee: <grabs at ring before saying yes> MY PRECIOUS....
