This is certainly a stop for those interested in fine art and beautiful, ornate jewelry and bibelots. In addition to it's lovely exhibits, the Headley-Whitney museum also features one of the most beautiful rose gardens in Kentucky. Do roses even bloom in September? Guess you'll need to find out for yourself.
While Keeneland's Fall Meet will not quite be in session (Opening Day is October 5th!), we encourage you to take the short drive out Versailles Road to see the site of some of the world's finest horse racing. Keeneland has an amazing gift shop that is open and tours are offered year-round in case you want to take a piece of Kentucky home with you!
Horses. They're everywhere. If you're an equine enthusiast or just interested in learning more about the most popular animal in the area, check out the Kentucky Horse Park and it's hundreds of beautiful bluegrass acres.
One of the first things Rob and Renee appreciated about one another was their love of college basketball. Rupp Arena is home to Renee's Wildcats and is the mecca of basketball (ahem, right up there with the Dean Dome)!
What would Versailles be without a palace? If you have time, make the drive past Keeneland and just over the Woodford County line to see an attraction that has brought visitors from all over the country to Central Kentucky. No need to brush up on your Francaise.
From steaks to sandwiches to sushi, Malone's has it all with a vibrant atmosphere and great patio. Recommended for a nicer lunch or dinner. Don't forget to add the Bottomless Lexingtonian Salad to your order! There are several locations in Lexington but this one holds the most memories. Cheers!
A quick drive out of the downtown area, you'll find Ramsey's! Be sure to try the fried banana peppers and definitely save room for a slice of Missy's pie (they offer 20 different types of fresh, homemade pie daily).
If you're looking for a bite to eat, be sure to stop in to Saul Good which has conveniently opened a downtown location. Here you'll find great southern menu options alongside the hospitality Kentucky is known for.
With a name like this, Smithtown Seafood had to make the list. Lexington may be land-locked but that doesn't mean the fish isn't fresh! P.S. There's also a location at Summit Farm for those interested in mixing some serious shopping in with their meal: 119 Marion Street, Suite 160 Lexington, Kentucky 40517
Nestled amongst the horse farms of Woodford County is a tiny gem that serves up a great reuben and is the first place Rob tried an Ale 8 soda. You should try one here too!
