A one-of-a-kind museum of "outsider art." Don't miss the fabulous mosaics outside and the offbeat gift shop.
This is in the Inner Harbor, where you will also find paddle boats and historic ships.
Lots of great art, including a world-class collection of paintings by Matisse. Nestled next to Johns Hopkins University.
Located in Druid Hill Park. Enjoy the gardens outside and the large variety of plants in the greenhouses.
An excellent art museum, in the beautiful Mount Vernon neighborhood.
Baltimore's swishiest neighborhood, with multiple cultural attractions. Visit the gorgeous Peabody Library (photo above), climb the original Washington Monument, and more.
The museum is adjacent to the 3rd oldest synagogue in the U.S. It's rapidly modernizing its curatorial perspective, so always interesting to see what's showing.
Great exhibits if you want to learn nitty-gritty Baltimore history, and how things are made.
The Peale was the first purpose-built museum in the U.S. It has also been used as Baltimore's City Hall, Baltimore's first public school for Black children, and plenty more. Recently renovated, the shows are eclectic and the space delightful. It's not large.
If the weather's nice, take a stroll or a hike at Cylburn Arboretum. Gardens to view, woodsy mini-hikes to enjoy.
North of the city, this is an absolutely beautiful place. Garden after carefully designed garden, plus a native butterfly house. Lots of topiary, and lots that's not topiary.
Toronto's got Fort Henry. Baltimore's got Fort McHenry. Both active during what we call the War of 1812. The interpretation is an interesting mix of pious patriotism and more careful analysis.
One of those step-back-in-time museums, and also relevant to the U.S. narrative around the War of 1812. A visit here inspired Rivkah's 10-year-old (?) birthday party, complete with dress-up, a mob cap craft, and the sugared nuts we were given.
