Travel to New Haven! We are experts.
Fly to either Hartford Bradley (an hour-ish away) or JFK/LaGuardia (two hours+, depending on traffic). The train from New York to New Haven is great; you'll need to take a cab or bus from the airport to Grand Central Station. The advantage of flying into New York is: New York! Make it a vacation!
Sarah has taken a shuttle (ctlimo.com). She pretty regularly gets a lyft from Hartford (with no traffic, about $85; she has also taken a lyft from NYC but it went...poorly).
New Haven Union Station, served by Metro North and Amtrak, is an easy cab ride to our place or either hotel.
If you're getting an airbnb, try for Fair Haven, our neighborhood on the Quinnipiac, or nearby East Rock, New Haven's Brooklyn. Happy to advise if you want to text us options!
Use our house as a home base all weekend — will have cold drinks and kayaks on hand. Let us know your plans! We'll be happy to try to coordinate friends/transportation/travel companions.
