River and Megan met 7 years ago, by chance, at a movie theatre. Megan was getting ready for her Junior year Winterfest dance when, at the last minute, she decided against going and skipped! With her girlfriends, including her maid of honor, she got dressed up and threw away her dance ticket, trading it in for a movie ticket to the Celebration Cinema! After taking pictures and eating at iHOP, the girls walked around for a bit before settling into the building. Little did Megan know, outside of that very building, was her future husband. While walking around the outside of the Woodland Mall, the high school girls heard a few voices joking around. Being the social butterfly that she is, Lauren (the maid of honor!) invited herself into that conversation by shouting over to the boys and laughing. Following along, the girls walked over and talked to River and his groomsmen, Nate. After joking around for a few minutes while practicing Australian accents, Megan and River exchanged numbers. Although they didn't communicate for many years, (he totally ghosted her!) this one moment set up their relationship to be. :-) After years of living their own lives, being in relationships, and growing into their own people, River and Megan seemed to have forgotten about the movie theatre incident from many years ago. When one day, while she was visiting Jackie in Alaska, she decided to open up Snapchat. While taking a picture of the landscape, Megan realized her phone had synced all her contacts onto the app, including that boy from the movie theatre. Seeing the name "River" and not remembering who this was, Megan struck up a conversation. This talk about books and how we knew each other led to their first date September 28th, 2017. This first date included River meeting Megan's entire immediate family, and two weeks straight of dates after. From there, the two were never apart. Now, over three years later, Megan and River are thankful for that day at the movies where they met.
