You know what they say: "kickball is the game of love"... or maybe they don't, but it turned out to be true! River and Cailun were introduced in a group text for a Sunday morning kickball league in Chicago, IL where River proceeded to ask Cailun out on an Earth Day first date without ever meeting her. Soon thereafter their kickball season began, and Cailun admits to thinking the stranger that asked her out without ever meeting her did look good in sweat pants but proclaimed they would just be friends. Eventually, they found themselves spending lots of time together: lunches during the week, Sunday coffee walks, Game of Thrones watch parties, and nights out together with friends. While accidentally spending every weekend together, Cailun insisted they were still "just friends.” It wasn’t until after one of Cailun's backpacking trips with her girlfriends, that the distance did in fact make her heart grow fonder as she realized the future she wanted with River and made River realize he didn’t want to be “just friends”. That trip’s distance launched their relationship into full send, and it was official almost immediately after she returned.

River decided to pop the question at “The Diggins,” which is a very special place for both River and Cailun located in Northwest Indiana. They have spent many weekends visiting "The Diggins" where they hike, camp, swim, fish, use the smoke cooker, and enjoy nature. It's what blossomed their shared love for the outdoors. "The Diggins" was also one of the last spots where their late dog, Didi, ran wild, happy, and free. River crafted a well-oiled proposal plan with Cailun’s mom and dad. It took convincing Cailun that there was some inspection to do on the property to get her into position for an idyllic backdrop. By way of questioning the types of trees and leaves nearby, River dropped to one knee and the rest is all tears and squeals. Cailun recalls "blacking out" with happiness as River sighed with relief. Cailun's parents rolled in on a gator tractor with bubbles and champagne. River's parents were the first of many facetime calls thereafter as they reveled in the moment with family and friends virtually. The next day they went for an impromptu lunch at one of their favorite Logan Square spots, Bixi Beer, where River again pulled off a squealing surprise. He coordinated a handful of their closest friends to surprise her, and they continued celebrations, “Sunday Funday” style.

River and Cailun will exchange vows in a private ceremony at the very same, special place where River proposed, "The Diggins". Then, all guests are invited to continue the celebrations at a rehabbed industrial warehouse with plenty of BBQ and dancing. We can't wait to share this special day with you all!!
