We look forward to seeing you at our wedding. There is plenty to do in New York. Here are some recommendations. Macy’s 4th of July fireworks The fireworks in New York are the nation’s largest independence day celebration, launching more than 75,000 shells to ignite the night. The fireworks start at around 21:00-21:15 on the East River. If you want to get a good spot, know that people start showing up early (all day!) Best places to enjoy the fireworks are East River State Park, Dumbo, Brooklyn Bridge Park & Promenade. Also Jones Beach State Park in Long Island, and Flushing Meadows-Corona Park in Queens. You can also catch the disply from rooftops in Lower Manhattan and Williamsburg/ Dumbo area. However, if you feel like going to Coney Island for the Hot Dog Eating Contest during the day, you can just stay in Brooklyn and enjoy Coney Island's own fireworks display.
