Riley and Ryan first met their freshman year of college at Santa Clara University. They shared a few classes together the first two years of college, but truly met during a study abroad program in Sevilla, Spain in 2016. Two months in, the stars aligned on a group trip to Lagos, Portugal where they shared their first kiss in the ocean and started dating soon after. They continued to explore Sevilla and other cities together while abroad and ultimately fell in love!

After months of planning, Ryan chose a date for both families to travel to beautiful Carmel, California to witness the proposal. The day had finally arrived and Ryan was as excited and nervous as can be. How could he get Riley to dress up and hide the big surprise? They went to lunch and the butterflies really started to kick in. After (barely) eating, he took Riley to the beach and led her to a blanket with photos of them, red roses, and champagne. There, he got down on one knee and proposed and she said “yes!” Once the shock subsided, Riley looked back to her surprise and saw her sister Eden disguised as a random beachgoer with a camera in hand and both families running out from behind a tree. The families spent the rest of the weekend together celebrating the newly engaged couple!
