How we met

February 14, 2017

It was Valentines Day when we first met each other on the online dating website 'Plenty of Fish'. Wasn't crazy about the site, so I was thinking about calling it quits until Rick messaged me. When he messaged me and I looked over his profile, he had a picture of him with the rind of half of a watermelon on his head like a hat. I am somewhat of a goofball myself and a kid at heart, so that caught my attention and interest right away along with my attraction toward his looks and his story. We messaged a bit but it's way easier to get to know someone over the phone, so I asked for his phone number. We spoke for a while, me being a little giddy and giggly. We set our first date for the following Saturday on the 18th. It was a surprise when she asked first for my phone number as I had not expected her to be so forward. Looking back now, I am grateful for her assertiveness. There were plenty of other fish in the sea, yet I am grateful that we caught each other. :-)

Our first date

February 18, 2017

He was a complete gentleman when he picked me up and he gave me a bouquet of beautiful yellow roses. Yellow flowers are my favorite! We went out for coffee in downtown St Cloud and talked for quite a while getting to know each other. While we were sitting on the couch together sipping my coffee and his hot cocoa, there was a beautiful view of outside. The old couch sank in in the middle and was a little uncomfortable, so I kept adjusting myself. He said I can scoot closer to him so I wasn't in the dip. Was he being a gentleman again or just wanted me a little closer? Tee-he. I scooted closer. I was a little giddy the whole time and could not stop smiling. Afterwards, we went to Ducks bar in St Cloud to play pool. I'm not much of a pool player but I loved it! He was real good! He even showed me a few tips. We decided we did not want the night to end yet, so we drove to Lake George. He brought a blanket with and laid it out on the grass overlooking the lake. It must have rained that day because our butts started to get wet. We jumped up laughing about it and went back to the truck. The night ended with us talking for a while in the truck when he dropped me off at my place. Was there a first kiss?? ;-D It was an amazing first date that sparked all kinds of feelings inside me. Upon talking, I knew she liked yellow flowers. I thought that if this date was meant to start off right, I must get her flowers. I stopped at Coborns in St Cloud to pick them up. By the grace of God, they had her favorite flowers available (in February of all months). When I first saw her, I immediately felt a connection with her and the rest is the beginning of our story.....

The Proposal!

September 22, 2017

Rick surprised me with a camping weekend to Duluth in Gooseberry Falls. When he picked me up, I noticed he was somewhat dressed up. I was dressed very casual. As far as I knew, we were just camping. Once we got there, we parked and Rick went by himself to check into the park. He went to the car behind us and was talking to someone. I thought maybe he was just asking them directions. I had no idea that it was the photographer and he was making plans with her. We drove around and when we found our campsite, we set up our tent. Then Rick told me he had to go to the bathroom and he left quickly. Little did I know, while gone, he coordinated with a photographer for our arrival to the proposal site. He came back after a bit and he was all sweaty because he ran back. He told me he wanted to show me something and took my hand for a walk. On our way there he was acting different. He seemed quiet and was saying strange things when he did talk. We walked down a beautiful path that lead to an opening of a grassy area that had a picnic table and overlooked Lake Superior. There was a lady off to the side which I thought nothing about. Rick walked me over by the lake and we gazed out while he held me. Then turned me toward him and was hugging me while he waved for the lady to come closer which I didn't see. He then walked me over to this bush and pointed out to this colorful bouquet of flowers and said, "Look, beautiful flowers in the shrub, where did that come from?". I notice the lady closer and recording us. I turned to take them out of the bush and when I turned back, he was down on one knee. My heart melted and tears rolled in my eyes. He then asked me, while taking my 'right' hand, "Tammy Lynn Ginger Fuhrer, will you marry me?". My name is Tammy Mae, not Lynn, LOL. I said yes! As he tried to put the ring on my right hand, I pulled it away and gave him my left hand. He grabbed my right to try again. "Wrong hand, honey." She was so surprised!!!!!!!!
