A summer must! Rent a canoe or rowboat and paddle around the lily pads of Union Bay.

For Exploring the Outdoors: Snow Lake

Rent a car and head just an hour outside the city for a great moderate hike. The hike is just over 6 miles roundtrip. Other shorter hikes in the area include: Rattlesnake Ledge (4 miles) and Mount Si (5 miles), although those trails can get pretty crowded in the summer.

For a Day Trip: Hiking + Aslan Brewing Company

Rent a car and drive 1.5 hours out of Seattle for some amazing hikes in Bellingham. Or you can skip the hike entirely and head straight to my cousin and her husband's brewery for a few Batch 15 IPAs.

For a Picnic: Gas Works Park

Grab a Caribbean sandwich from Paseo and enjoy one of the best views of the city
