We met through an online dating site. Luis found Megan, which was fortunate because otherwise, we would have never met, since Luis' location was out of Megan's search radius. Luis sent out the first message and Megan responded the next day since judging by his profile, she thought he didn't seem so bad ;) After chatting for a couple weeks through phone calls & texting, Luis asked if we could meet in person for the first time. Although nervous to meet new people, Megan agreed with a little apprehension since she had not-so-great experiences with meeting people from dating sites. On Sunday, September 19, we met for the first time at the Cerritos Mall. Originally the plan was to simply meet in person so we could talk to see how things would go. Even though there was a little bit of awkward nerves (mostly by Megan), we were enjoying ourselves and decided to turn it into a date and go see a movie, Shang-Chi and the Ten Rings. Luis paid for the tickets, so Megan offered to buy popcorn and drinks but ended up paying $1 more than the tickets cost :P After the short date, we both felt we had a wonderful time together. We enjoyed spending time together and decided we would like to see more of each other. And that's how the story goes...

Luis proposed. Megan said Yes :) Luis knew that Megan was the perfect weird for him, and that he loved her very much, so he talked to his family and told them he was ready to propose to her. With the help of his family, Luis picked out a ring that would be perfect for Megan. Luis was having sleepless nights trying to figure out a way to propose to Megan, but nothing felt right. He at first wanted to propose 3-20-2023 because the date is a palindrome (it reads the same forward and backwards), and with both of us being nerds, Luis thought it would be the perfect date. Unfortunately, the jeweler said the ring wouldn't be ready in time. However, when 3-20-2023 came around, the jeweler called early in the morning and said the ring was ready to be picked up. So, Luis took that as a sign that he shouldn't wait any longer and that 3-20-2023 was the perfect date. He wanted to be with Megan, and that's all that mattered. Because family is very important to both of us, Luis wanted them to be present for the proposal. So, on the spur of the moment, he loaded his family in the car and made the drive to Megan's family home. Megan was surprised and confused when she looked out the window and saw Luis knocking on the door because Luis had texted her earlier that he was busy running errands. When Megan went to the door to meet Luis, he asked Megan to gather her family outside. In the front yard, Luis played "A Whole New World" on his phone and took Megan's hands. He told her how much she means to him, and then he got on one knee and asked Megan to marry him. For some reason, probably shock, Megan answered "Yeah", but she really meant "Yes!" :) And that's how the story goes...

After trying to decide on the perfect wedding date, we realized that next year would also have a palindrome date, 4-20-2024. And it was on a Saturday too! We took that as a sign and made it official! We'll see you then! :)
