The Boston Public Garden is less than a 10 minute walk from the venue. It was established in 1837, is America's first Botanical Garden! It is beautifully lit up for Christmas, and it is one of our favorite iconic spots in Boston. Look for the duckling statues (inspired by the beloved childhood book 'Make Way for Ducklings') that are always dressed for the season!
Lolita was hands down our favorite date night spot while Molly lived in Boston, and it is just a block away from the venue! The food and cocktails are fantastic, and the dimly-lit gothic style of the space gives Lolita a sexy and sophisticated vibe.
Looking for a stylish Italian restaurant with great drinks and beautiful views of Back Bay? Contessa is the spot! It is a 10 minute walk from the venue, and it is open for breakfast, brunch, lunch, and dinner! The spicy lobster capellini is a fan favorite!
Charles street is Molly's favorite street in her favorite neighborhood (Beacon Hill) in Boston! The start of Charles Street is a 15 minute walk from the venue through the Public Garden, a lovely walk! Molly lived here while working at Massachusetts General Hospital in the burn unit, and she spent far too much of her hard earned money on Charles Street! Check out the original Tatte (her favorite coffee/ breakfast spot), Figs Pizza, JP Licks ice cream, boutiques, Beacon Hill Books and Cafe, Beacon Hill Chocolates, and Toscano!
The Liberty Hotel is a boutique hotel that is an imaginative transformation of the storied Charles Street Jail, a national historic landmark and architectural gem built in 1851. The Liberty has five bars/restaurants that are stylish and chic. Liberty bar was one of Molly's favorite places to go after working at Massachusetts General Hospital, and it was one of the spots we frequented in our early stages of dating. It is a 25 minute scenic walk from the venue: through the Public Gardens and down Charles Street at the foot of Beacon Hill.
Newbury Street is a mile-long, eight block stretch of shops, salons, galleries and restaurants in Back Bay that less than a 5 minute walk from the venue. Our favorite food spots on Newbury Street are Saltie Girl (best lobster roll in Boston) Stephanie's, and Sonsie.
The Boston Public Library is a stone's throw from the venue, and it contains beautiful art, architecture, and a stunning courtyard. There is also a charming restaurant inside that serves high tea.
Located in Boston Commons, Frog Pond turns into an outdoor ice skating area every winter with rental skates available.
Looking for a sophisticated and modern Italian / Mediterranean dining experience close to the venue? Sorrelina is the spot. The renowned chef / owner is Jamie Mammano who is the man behind Mistral and Moo, two of our other favorite spots in the city. It is less than a five minute walk from the venue.
Located in Beacon Hill, Acorn Street is considered one of the most photographed streets in Boston (peep the photo at the top of this page). This narrow cobblestoned street with small row houses used to house the coachmen and cooks who worked for the people of Beacon Hill in the early 1800s. This historic site is about a 20 minute walk from the venue.
The North End, Boston’s Little Italy, is about a 25 minute walk or a 12 minute drive from the venue. There are several historic sites in the North End including the 1680 Paul Revere House and the Old North Church, which played a key role at the beginning of the Revolutionary War. Italian restaurants, coffeehouses, pastry shops and old-school delis pack the area, especially on lively Hanover Street.
The Institute of Contemporary Art is a museum and exhibition space, and it is one of Stephen's favorite architectural gems of the city! It is a 15 minute drive from the venue in the Seaport neighborhood which is a redeveloped stretch of the South Boston waterfront lined with large, sleek restaurants, bars and hotels. Looking to eat in the Seaport? Check out Barking Crab for casual seafood, Committee for Mediterranean / cocktails, or Legal Harborside which has three different menus on their three floors.
Also located in the Seaport neighborhood, about a 15 minute drive from the venue, Harpoon brewery and taproom is a fun spot to visit. The brewery offers tours (with lots of free samples) and boasts a beer hall that serves tasty pretzels!
Friendly Toast is one of our favorite casual breakfast spots, and it is only a 6 minute walk from the venue. Their menu is extensive and creative, and they also serve drinks all day for anyone who needs a little hair of the dog!
Yvonnes is a cool cocktail/ speakeasy bar that was another one of our favorite date spots in the early days of our situationship! It is about a 20 minute walk from the venue. Enter through the 'hair salon' front to find a huge space with plenty of banquettes, booths, and nooks to cozy up for a cocktail or small bite to eat.
Modeled after a Venetian palazzo, the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum houses one of the world's most remarkable art collections. Our favorite part of this museum is the Courtyard which features year-round seasonal horticultural displays. It is a 10 minute drive or a 35 minute walk from the venue.
The Freedom Trail is a 2.5-mile-long path through Boston that passes by 17 locations significant to the history of the United States, marked largely with brick. There are plenty of tours available, but you can also follow the brick path for a self guided experience. The trail starts in Boston Commons which is a 13 minute walk from the venue.
