It was an ordinary uni day, a "hi", "hello" and "goodbye" at first encounter when Daniel and Regina got introduced by a common friend. It was not until the second time the following year that their paths crossed again at a barbecue gathering held by mutual friends in the university Daniel was studying in (Griffith University). Love at first sight? They said it could not have been (in a good way!)- because maybe at second sight was where it all meant to blossom. Three or four months after constant exchange of paragraphic and essay like messages (featuring numerous emojis and not to mention late night phone calls) was when Daniel decided to take Regina out on their first date- at a popular Italian restaurant, called Vapianos in the city. Surely they both did not wait for another three or four months to pass... not this time when it became apparent to them that what they had was something more special... and soon after, the two became somewhat "inseparable". So here is where they are at now, approaching their fifth year together... and the best of all they have ever imagined awaits them.
A day after returning from my Bali holidays, little did I know what was about to happen that will change my life in a three hundred sixty degrees way as I had been preoccupied with my recent trip with major holiday blues and another holiday to plan by May 2019 (Queenstown, NZ). Daniel had kept the ring for quite some time without my knowledge (I found out when I went to resize my ring, and the lady attendant had told me it was bought in October 2018). He had really planned the day out which felt good and refreshing but was also a little unusual. I went along and pondered why he was being extra sweet? or maybe he really just wanted to make Valentines feel a little more memorable for the year. I tried hard not to assume anything. The day started out with breakfast by cruising along the Gold Coast, went for a stroll and scootered our way around Surfers Paradise, followed by lunch and a picnic at Froggy Beach. (Extra right?) Before ending the day at what he said was "the last stop" at a cliff view at Fingal Heads NSW, I could not help but think of what could happen next (even if I tried hard not to, in case it was a massive false alarm). I thought maybe he was honestly just being sweeter than normal that day- cos its Valentines right? (Best boyfriend award goes to... but wait..) It was not a perfect - sunset- moment -by- the- cliff -overlooking- the- ocean Daniel had hoped for because it was windy and it started to shower that time, but the moment was made perfect to me when there and then he went down on one knee and asked me the easiest question i ever answered- "YES!" with tears of joy. He got the award eventually, as my Fiance!! -----Regina------
She would always ask me whenever marriage is mentioned “when kaya” (I wonder when?) These simple words always bring a smile to my face and I would give her a cheeky grin without saying a word. But deep down she has no idea that I have been planning something for her. Four years of being together with Regina has brought purpose and meaning in my life. She brought the sweet, caring and soft side that was hiding deep inside of me. She would always say that I look serious and that I should smile more often- and so I did until it continued, that everytime I would see her, it would put a smile on my face. And how did I know when the right time was?- I knew she was "The One" because there was no one else in my life that has brought so much happiness, laughter and excitement. I knew God brought me my life partner whom I can share my life with, to grow and learn together and someone whom I can protect, care for and love for life. -------Daniel-------
