JFK 120 miles ~ 3 hours John F. Kennedy Airport (JFK) offers a straightforward public transit option to Montauk. Take the AirTrain to Jamaica Station, where you can transfer to the Long Island Railroad (LIRR) and board a train to Montauk. Upon arrival, take an Uber to your lodging. LGA 120 miles ~ 3 hours LaGuardia Airport (LGA) is a convenient option for travelers heading to Montauk. Renting a car is a popular choice for flexibility, or you can book a private transfer for a seamless trip. For more details, please refer to our "Prefer Driving?" section. ISP 65 miles ~ 2 hours Long Island MacArthur Airport (ISP) is the closest airport to Montauk and offers a public transit connection. If using public transportation, take the Suffolk Transit 6 bus to the Patchogue LIRR station, then board the Long Island Railroad (LIRR) to Montauk. This airport is also a great option for those planning to rent a car for their stay.

Most travel plans require the Long Island Railroad (LIRR). To buy tickets, download the MTA Traintime app, select your route, and purchase adult/child tickets. If you're spending time in NYC before heading to Montauk, depart from Grand Central or Penn Station and take the LIRR to Montauk, with a free transfer at Jamaica Station.
