We had known each other for many years from attending Oakland University together and remained in touch on social media. It all came down to one fateful night in New York City where I (Reema) had lived for podiatry school. Osama posted a photo of pizza and shared that his location was in Brooklyn, NY to which I replied, "I'm in New York too!" Osama invited me out for drinks with him and his cousins later that night who happened to be in town to celebrate a birthday. We quickly hit it off and have been inseparable since!

On the (almost) anniversary of when we first met, my sister had invited Osama and I to go on a peddle bike tour with her and her friends. Little did I know this was a diversion to get me in downtown Detroit. Osama parked and told me that we could walk to the meeting location. I started to realize that he might be proposing and could feel the anticipation! He led me to the Detroit Institute of Arts (my favorite place in the city). We walked up the DIA steps where my sister in law had set up beautiful flowers and a Marry Me sign. It was such a romantic and thoughtful surprise, and of course I said yes! We're so excited to celebrate this next chapter in our lives with you all! See you in Detroit!
