Their first memory of each other is from a coffee class that Jess went to with their mutual friend, Raegan. Her husband was giving a class to a group of people in 409 S. Main in downtown Memphis. It was here that Jess captured a photo of Isaac sharing his knowledge and passion for coffee. Fast forward a few weeks and they officially met at a college ministry hosted by Colonial Hills Church. This began 3 years of a very deep friendship, which has resulted in the two changing the courses of their lives forever. "I ask myself this constantly. "Where would I be without you?" Is a question I don't want answered. And yet, I ask. The times of laughter, struggle, uncertainty, embrace, rebuke, Were they all worth it? no, I know they were."
As stated above, Isaac and Jess were friends for multiple years. After knowing each-other for many years, there came a moment in time where they were unable to remain as close as they once were. However, the Lord is faithful even through difficulty. In August of 2021, Jess' Dad passed away and she knew she needed to talk to someone who knew her Dad well and yet also someone who was not part of her family. Isaac was the first person to come to mind. They began to talk about Jess' Dad and the memories they both had of him. The friendship that had faded returned and they both realized how much they truly loved one-another. Isaac informed Jess of the changes he had made in his life and his strengthened love for the Lord which confirmed Jess' love for Isaac. By the end of September 2021, they both realized things were different now and Isaac asked Jess to be his girlfriend :) "Because now all I see is what He's done In the form of a setting sun. So beautiful crafted, it's hue darkens as it changes into something entirely new."
First off it is important to know Isaac cannot keep a secret...or so I thought. Since we began dating, Isaac and I talked about our future and the desire we both had for marriage. On our one year anniversary after a sweet date and deep conversation I told him I was ready. After that moment, time seemed to slow down and every day felt like a year waiting for him to ask me to marry him. Days and weeks passed by and I became impatient asking him "when are you going to propose" "we both look cute today you should propose". This continued for right under two months including the day he finally asked me. Isaac asked me if I would go on a date with him to a new restaurant in Memphis (not out of the ordinary). Obviously, I agreed and got ready for our "dinner date". We left my house early afternoon on Saturday October 22nd, 2022 and got coffee and walked down the Memphis river talking and enjoying each other's presence before "dinner". We headed to the restaurant that was at the 409 building on South Main in Memphis (where we first met)...DID I MENTION I'M OBLIVIOUS. As we walked through the building he led me upstairs where he had decorated an aisle surrounded by beautiful plants and notes from our loved ones. At this beautiful spot (where I took his photo years ago) he asked me to marry him. P.S. I said yes :) -Jess "I feel the cool of night rush over me As I see a shadow of what will be. My smile widens alongside the crescent of the moon And I realize how thankful I should be. I can't let go of this Not again. Because this This is greater than sunsets." -Isaac
