Layne and Rebekah both attended KSU in the fall of 2018. Both majored in Agricultural Education, lived in Moore Hall on campus, ate in the same cafeteria and knew the same people but never met. It wasn’t until January of 2021 that the dating app Tinder brought them together. Their first date was at Rebekah’s apartment in Lawrence, KS at the end of January. Layne made her his favorite meal of burgers and ranch pasta salad, and they spent the rest of the night talking about everything under the sun and the rest is history. Fast forward to October 7, 2022, Layne and Bekah were on their way to visit family in Oregon then spend a couple of days in Yellowstone National Park. After resting for the evening in Laramie, WY, they started their day of driving at 3am. Somewhere along the way at about 530am they stopped for breakfast at a truck stop Dennys and made plans to find a spot in Green River, WY; Ashley National Forest to watch the sunrise in the mountains. After almost getting the car stuck on an access road into the mountains, they walked for about .5 miles and stopped to watch the sunrise when Layne popped the question! They got engaged!
