We first met at Purple Hatter's Ball Music Festival in Live Oak, Florida. Standing next to each other in a crowd at a show, we realized we were laughing at the same thing and immediately jumped into a deep conversation. Fast forward to later that evening and somehow we magically ended up at the same fire circle just sitting a few rows apart. I (Rebekah) not being the shy type went and sat down next to David and we had our second amazing conversation but never exchanged information or phone numbers. That monday morning, an email made it to the main Department of Health inbox trying to locate “a writer named Becky or Rebekah.” Thankfully, our office admin knew to ask me and I jumped at the opportunity to respond and comment on David’s great detective work that was also quite endearing. We became pen pals right away and arranged a year of friendly visits to Jacksonville. In 2015, we decided to consciously date long distance and soon after began to plan how we could be together in the same place. One year later, in July 2016, David transferred his role with SKA from Sarasota to Jacksonville and I accepted a position as account executive with a PR Consulting Firm in Downtown Jacksonville. In 2017, we adopted a lovely kitten displaced by Hurricane Irma and named him Monkey. We’ve been very pleased to let him know that his parents will be getting married this June!! 127 days to go!
Taos, New Mexico 1,500 feet up in a hot air balloon double surprise at sunrise over the Rio Grande Gorge. David asked Rebekah to marry him! She said yes, naturally!
