Question

What do I need to travel to Ireland?

Answer

Use www.travel.state.gov to stay up to date with any travel advisories or embassy alerts. You will only need a US Passport that's valid 6 months or longer beyond the length of your stay. There are currently no Visas or other travel documents required and no additional vaccines recommended.

Question

What's the weather like?

Answer

In a true Ireland response--plan for all four seasons each day! The weather does vary between light rain, breezes, sunshine, and warmth. Our ceremony will be in a place that can be windy and on uneven ground--so leave those fancy heels in the States and wear whatever keeps your feet dry, warm, and comfy!

Question

What should be on our list to visit?

Answer

Do the touristy things outside of Dublin. Walk on the Wild Atlantic Way. Drive around the Ring of Kerry. Visit the House of Waterford. Visit a sheep farm in Sligo and watch a sheepdog at work. Above all--visit a pub and get recommendations from a local!!

Question

How do I use my US plugs in Ireland?

Answer

Short answer: Ireland uses a Type G plug and has 230v AC Long answer: Many of our electronics (think phones, tablets, laptops) are what's called "dual voltage" and that means you only need a converter to be able to plug them in. However, many commonly used appliances (think hair dryers, curling irons, electric shavers, electric toothbrushes) are NOT dual voltage and require a voltage step down converter. Pay CLOSE attention to the converters you buy as they may not cover all appliances.

Question

Will my cell phone work in Ireland?

Answer

Short answer: Yes Long answer: You should confirm with your carrier what cost there is on your plan for that usage. Some carriers (like Verizon) charge you $10 a day for using your cell phone abroad. This does not count if your phone is on airplane mode and you only use WiFi around the country. This only applies if you are making phone calls, sending texts, posting pictures, using GPS while using the cell network (not connected to WiFi).
