First comes school, then comes marriage. Let us set the stage for you... January of 2017, it was the spring semester, Rachel was a sophomore in college and, surprisingly, in love with organic chemistry at the time. Steven was, coincidentally, a first-semester teaching assistant for the course's lab section. Though she had a massive crush on him the whole semester, which her friends would often call "distracting" and traditionally uncharacteristic for her, it didn't take long for him to steal her heart. That summer, some well-intentioned friends set up a game night for the two to get to know each other once the semester had ended and the rest was history...
It was all fun and games until he popped the question. Remember that arranged game night we told you about? On the night they got engaged, Steven recreated their "first date" (which, to be clear, they still don't agree was their formal, first date). A clueless Rachel unknowingly played the first game that brought them together, as Steven prepared to ask about forever and their sweet, intimate moment was perfect in every way.
The past three and a half years together have been our most favorite by far! Fast forward a bit after falling in love that summer, Steven graduated from New York University with a Masters in Chemistry, and a year later, Rachel with a Bachelor's in Nutrition. We spent two of the sweetest years living together in our little third floor walk-up apartment in Brooklyn, while finishing up our degrees. During the summer of 2020, we moved from New York down to Virginia (Steven's home state) and now find ourselves in Charlottesville. Rachel is finishing a dietetic training program at the University of Virginia for her Registered Dietitian license and Steven continues teaching Chemistry at various colleges. In our free-time, we enjoy being outdoors, being introverts (together), and laughing at our tiny kittens, Bumblebee and Lemondrop.
