This former military base is one of our favorite places to walk Fiona and is short drive from Zigbone. The old stone buildings are being given new life and the Greenhouse Cafe is a great stop if you travel in early and want a sandwich and coffee.
If it's a weekend, there's a very good chance you'll find us here for Trivia, Karaoke Night, or just because. Two of our wedding brews will be from this local gem!
Our favorite brewery, although we don't go nearly often enough, this was our first stop when we were securing beer orders for the wedding. They have great beer, good food and the very best bar staff.
The best local ice cream in the area, opened on the farm Rachel grew up on (well...next to, technically...) Come for the ice cream, stay for the petting farm!
5 minutes from our house, Red Heifer is our local, particularly in the summer when we can zip up after a long day of work and relax with a bottle of Chambourcin and take-in the mountain views. The owners consider us their neighbors, particularly as their wine is made mostly from the grapes grown in the fields around our house!
James' favorite pitstop on the way to/from his in-laws is Ivy Hill Farm. Stock up on local jam, honey, produce, dips, sauces and more. If you go, you have to get an apple slushy (Rachel's favorite) or hot cider (James' pick)!
Downtown Frederick is the perfect place to spend part of your day. It's packed with boutique shops, fine and casual dining, and close to a dozen breweries
If you're in town for more than the day, Gettysburg is packed with local shops, breweries, restaurants and, of course, the battlefield.
