Rent Golf Cart at Pawleys Island Golf Co

*This is THE way to get around Debordieu Colony so I highly recommend booking a cart if staying in Debordieu. *Most Debordieu rental houses have the option to rent a golf cart for an extra fee during booking through Debordieu website and I would check this option first before booking through Pawleys or AJAX.

Huntington Beach State Park

Huntington Beach State Park is on the coast of South Carolina. Its Atlantic beach and wetlands are inhabited by sea turtles, alligators and rich birdlife. The Sandpiper Pond Nature Trail has a viewing deck on a pond that attracts egrets and herons. The Kerrigan Nature Trail includes a boardwalk over a lagoon. Atalaya, a vast 1930s Moorish-style castle, was the home of the Huntingtons, who once owned the land.

Tour Historic Hobcaw Barony

Hobcaw Barony is one of the few undeveloped tracts on the Waccamaw Neck. The Native Americans called it “hobcaw,” meaning between the waters. In 1718, the land became a colonial land grant known as a barony. Sold and subdivided into plantations, the land was used for rice production until the beginning of the 20th century. Hobcaw Barony is a privately owned research reserve located on the coast near Georgetown, South Carolina. Hobcaw Barony’s 16,000 acres encompass a rich diversity of every common ecosystem found on the South Carolina coast, making this an unparalleled site for research in the environmental sciences. Access to the 16,000 acres is only by guided tours and programs.
