FAQs

The Wedding Website of Rachel Goodling and Elijah Van Kuren
Question

Is there a dress code?

Answer

Yes, black tie optional/formal. Men, you can wear a tuxedo if you'd like, or a dark suit if you'd prefer! For women, feel free to wear a floor length dress if you'd like, but something less formal like a fancy cocktail dress or midi dress is a perfect option as well!

Question

What time should I arrive at the ceremony?

Answer

5 p.m. The ceremony begins promptly at 5:30 p.m. and doors open at 5 p.m.

Question

Are children welcome?

Answer

Our venue will NOT permit anyone under the age of 18 to enter. Therefore, children are not permitted at the ceremony, cocktail hour, or reception. “Children” are defined as anyone under the age of 18, including a baby. This policy applies regardless of if the child needs a seat and regardless of if the child will be eating a plated meal.

Question

Can I bring a date?

Answer

If your invitation was addressed to you "and guest," then yes. If you've already tossed your envelope and you can't remember how it was addressed, then you may bring a date if you have an option to add a guest on the RSVP page.

Question

Are you registered? Where?

Answer

Yes. You can find our registry through the menu on our website.

Question

Will there be an open bar?

Answer

Yes, two! We will also have a seasonal kombucha!

Question

Is there parking for the ceremony or reception?

Answer

Public parking in various lots close to the venue is available on a first come, first served basis. If you need a map of the public parking around the venue, please text Rachel at (919) 460-4743. However, since parking in downtown Wilmington can be difficult on weekends and evenings, we have listed 4 different accommodations in the "Travel" section of our website that are a 4 minute (approximately 2 blocks) or less walk to our venue. Additionally, we will be offering a car service an hour before and the hour following our wedding to and from the venue to Hotel Ballast. If you intend to use the transportation to get from Hotel Ballast to the ceremony, please be in the lobby of Hotel Ballast by no later than 4:45 p.m. on December 2. If you are planning on taking an Uber to and from the wedding, there should be plenty of Ubers in downtown Wilmington, but be sure to book your Uber with time to spare as they can be busy downtown in the evenings.

Question

Is there transportation to and from the hotels to the ceremony?

Answer

We are providing transportation to and from Hotel Ballast before and after the ceremony. If you intend to use the transportation to get from Hotel Ballast to the ceremony, please be in the lobby of Hotel Ballast by no later than 4:45 p.m. on December 2. Many of the accommodations on our "Travel" page are a less than 4 minute walk of our venue (about two blocks).

Question

Is the ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception all in the same location?

Answer

Yes! The ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception will all take place at Bakery 105 back to back, so you will not need to travel between the ceremony, cocktail hour, and dinner.

Question

Are you having a welcome event before the wedding?

Answer

Yes! If you're in town the night before the wedding, we'd love for you to join us and our bridal party at Pour Taproom in downtown Wilmington. The address is 201 N. Front Street, Wilmington, NC 28401. Pour Taproom is a self-pour taproom with more than 60 craft beers and a large game room. It is located about two blocks from Hotel Ballast.

Question

What if there is inclement weather?

Answer

Our ceremony and reception will be inside, so no need to worry about inclement weather! Our cocktail hour will be outside, but we will have a tent and heaters on reserve in the event of cold weather or rain.
