Wander three mansions, The Breakers, The Elms and Marble House decorated in ornamented evergreens, Christmas trees that reflect the rooms they occupy, wreaths, fresh flowers, dining tables set with period silver and china, decorations on all mantelpieces and many more festive touches. There are narrated tours at all of these locations and beautiful to see at the holidays.
Cliff Walk is one of our favorite places in Newport. Bundle up and head to the entrance of the cliff walk near First Beach. You can do a partial walk to 40 steps or if you feel adventurous, follow it to the end. There are many places to exit the cliff walk along the way. In total it is about a 5 mile loop if you do the entire thing. Great way to get outside and see the waterfront!
Bundle up and drive past the beaches. Sachuest Point is at the end of the beaches and a beautiful walking loop.
Take some time to drive the Ocean Drive scenic loop for a great view of the mansions and the water. It takes about 30 minutes and is definitely worth doing if it’s your first time in Newport or you haven’t done it yet.
Take a walk at Sachuest Point. Parking is free. There are a couple options to stroll. It is about a 20 min hike and is flat with lots of water views. Bundle up!
It is free to walk around and a really cool post Revolutionary War fort. Great views of Newport and a great sunset spot as well. Also, if it snows it is home to the best sledding hill in Newport.
