Jen: We met as many modern couples do - over Tinder. After Hurricane Barry pushed our first date back two weeks, we finally met in person! Unfortunately, I accidentally overslept and showed up late by a whole hour. Austin, already having traveled down to the south shore, decided to wait it out, thankfully. We ended up partying on Bourbon St and stayed out until 5am. The rest is history.
When the time was right, a plan was formed. I would propose at Langles Bridge in City Park. But how to get Jen there with her nails done without raising suspicion? By recreating our second date. Before the proposal, we got manicures and pedicures at a salon in the city, followed by brunch at Flamingo a-go-go. On the way home, I proposed the idea of getting beignets at Café du Monde in City Park, which just so happened to be placed right next to Langles Bridge. As we were walking to the café, I pointed out a cool bridge I wanted to go see. As we climbed the bridge, I checked that our photographer was in place and no one would be crossing. To my surprise, there was a couple and their photographer approaching. I started to panic. I approached them and frantically made it clear what I was trying to do and they stopped in their tracks. I quickly climbed back up the bridge to where Jen was waiting. With two hands on her shoulders, I spun her around, gave a frazzled speech that I can't remember to this day, got down on one knee, and asked her to marry me. She said yes, obviously.
