Katie and Sarah slipped a note under the door to compliment his voice and a gasp and thank you came through the door! Best Man
Best Man A: Josh & Brandon knew each other in Junior High… but Brandon was a trouble-maker and Josh was going through his “preppy” phase. The two wouldn’t really become friends until Senior year psych class; as they sat in the back of the class and tried to keep a low profile while playing pranks on fellow classmates. Fast forward to after senior year & the pair were nearly inseparable. One summer Quack held a party at his house where Brandon met Quack’s coworker, Molly… who he is now married to and the mother of their 2 beautiful girls: Dorothy “Midge”, & Elsie. This, once again made Josh “Uncle Josh” … or as Elsie likes to say “JoshKatie”.
Best Man
Yup…another best man. We’ll call this one “Best Man alpha” Josh & Jarrod met in 7th grade. They would pass drawings to each other during History class and create elaborate war scenes of alien invasions or intergalactic space battles. Jarrod convinced Josh to play hockey with him even though Josh didn’t even know how to skate. Years later they discovered they were on the same little league team in 6th grade with fellow groomsman, Christopher Campbell. Jarrod & Josh were two peas in a pod from 7th grade through senior year. Theater. Hockey. Soccer. A very infamous day involving a River… they went through it all… Then Jarrod went off and joined the Navy with a clear career path as a QM. - but 9/11 happened and his flag ship had new orders. No matter the distance, the ups & downs, these two remained brothers & best friends. Jarrod found Kerri and together brought a healthy baby Fleming into the world…. And Josh is uncle once more!
Best Man
Yes… the 3rd (& final) Best Man. This is Best Man #1. Gaff is Josh’s first & oldest friend… and truthfully one of the reasons Josh moved from Connecticut to Massachusetts. From their love of Hotwheels, board games, camping, carzillas, and playing outside during the endless childhood summers… To their adult life & (re)discovering disc golf, traveling all over New England together, putting all sorts of hot sauce on their pizza, and something about the “bish from Alaska”… Nothing can break this bond of friendship & brotherhood. Gaff & Quack have a friendship older and longer than most of Katie’s cousins have been alive. And it’s this bond that will last ANOTHER 30 years.
Groomsman
Quack met Sacco at UMass while they were founding brothers in the same fraternity. They also lived in the same building, but separated by 20 flights of stairs. The first true bonding experience they shared was smoking hookah on the pyramids outside of their dorm. Sacco has quite a different mindset on life that Josh has always admired and looked up to, and Chris has no qualms calling Josh out on his mistakes and helping him grow as a person. He is a brilliant man and equally as compassionate as our other groomsman Chris. His personality is larger than he is and yet he brings balance to this and all other friendships. Quack introduced Chris to Disc golf, which chris thoroughly enjoys… but not quite as much as traditional golf. -but even now Sacco plays Woodland Valley in Maine and has introduced the sport to his family as well. From camping at DMB, to disc golf, to video games, snowboarding, D&D, and of course Pi Kappa Phi brothers - Quack & Sacco have steeled their friendship over the last 15 years.
Groomsman
Josh & Chris met in 6th grade when they played little league on the same team: BCL. (The team that Jarrod was also on.) They stayed friends in Junior high and high school. Jarrod, Campbell, & Quack were 3 of the 4 seniors on the first ever Middleboro Sachems Ice Hockey team. Jarrod & Josh both played Defense and Chris played Wing. One game, about halfway through the season, Campbell was checked into the boards at the Sachems bench & right next to Josh. There was a crunch. Chris got up, grabbed his arm and exclaimed, “MY WRIST IS JUNK!” That was the last game Chris played that year as he indeed broke his wrist. Quack targeted the player responsible for the rest of the game to avenge his teammate. After high school Chris & Josh were co-workers at Aubuchon hardware. This was the era of LAN Parties- MoH, C&C Renegade, C&C Generals, and custom building computers in the back room of Aubuchon. It was also the time of pick-up roller hockey with the same crew. Campbell has been that one consistent and level minded friend that always has your back and willing to lend his expertise to any problem. When forming a party of friends (or miscreants in a fantasy realm) Chris is a lynchpin. He may not know this, but there is one quote Chris expressed to Josh back in 2001/2002 that shaped his view on life for years to come. It is always that sage wisdom and huge heart, which Campbell brings everywhere he goes, that make him one of Josh’s favorite humans in the world.
Groomsman
There’s something in the name - In this Quackenbush family there are quite a few parallels. ie my father was born John Kevin, but because his father was also John they referred to my dad by his middle name. They continued that trend when my uncle was born James Kenneth and was called Kenny. Brothers with the same initials- JKQ, and their sister Karen was KMQ. My sister was also born KMQ. Johnny shares the same initials as Josh - JTQ. AND both of our middle names are in reference to The Hobbit / Lord of the Rings. Living on opposite sides of the state had its challenges and it meant that when they saw each other they were spending as much time together as possible. They’ve had a ton of adventures together growing up - both in the real world, and in a digital format. The two bonded over Pokémon and Josh took John to the Braintree mall when he was about 11 years old to wait in line for hours to get special Pokémon given only on that day. Johnny introduced Josh to a multitude of different animes over the years & vis a versa. Josh introduced Johnny to punk & indie rock - specifically his love for BRAND NEW. Which brings us back to the beginning… when John T. was born, Joshua T. knew he gained a cousin/best friend/little brother - in the same way Josh grew up with and viewed John’s brothers (Dan & Chris) as his own older brothers.

Steve met Jarrod when they worked together at INTERNAP. This sounds like a place to get some rest in between your daily activities, but it’s actually a data center. Josh had introduced Jarrod to the lovely world of disc golf, and in turn Jarrod (re)introduced Steve to disc golf… and that’s about when Q & Quack met. Quack invited Steve to play Dacey (Quack’s least favorite course in the area) and Steve got stung by a bunch of bees by the 5th hole… But the passion for the sport bubbled up and boiled over for Steve. (As it had so many years ago for Josh). Steve wants to be the very best, like no one ever was. To catch chains (and gainz) is his real quest, to smash putts is his cause. He now travels across the land, throwing far and side(arm). Each disc to understand the power of its flight! Anywhoo… Quack & Q discovered how much they had in common and quickly became friends. Card games. Board games. Video games. Disc golf. It’s the closeness of mutual activities and a competitive spirit that brought them even closer. Although their taste in music was not quite the same; Josh coming from punk/pop punk roots & Steve coming from the death/doom metal - they at least found some common ground in hardcore and hip hop. 😅. It was a fast friendship that has already lasted more than half a decade & this solidarity continues to grow.

All around sports enthusiast, Dudek is solely responsible for Josh’s true college experience. Friends since Junior High & coworkers at the Park Dept… Josh (taking the long route through college) found his weekends visiting Mike at UMass and eventually living in the same dorm…. And that’s when the 2004 ALCS changed Boston forever - and also when Quack & Dudek avoided getting arrested as swat descended upon the massive crowd going absolutely bananas. Flaming toilet paper, dude jumping off the DC & breaking his legs… (thus immortalizing his stupidity in an episode of Family Guy). … & then they were roommates for a year and a half in the infamous rm 214 Washington. But there story doesn’t end there. Boys for life. Brothers forever. BIRH
