Looking forward to celebrating together!
In April 2018, Priya and Rohan both swiped right for each other on Bumble. Priya thought Rohan was cute and was secretly hoping that he was The Prince of Dubai. Ro was won over by Priya's charm and witty puns. After a few months of dating, they went to Chicago to visit Rohan's family since his Dada was visiting. Priya arrived earlier than Rohan since she was already in Chicago for work. She rang the doorbell and was greeted by a warm welcome and embrace from everyone. It was like meeting family and her nerves melted away. As she waited for Rohan to show up, in conversation Priya mentioned that she had visited this neighborhood before while visiting her family who used to live in the area. Mamta Bua was surprised, and said “You’re Rita & Pravin’s niece?”. She continued… “Does that mean that you’re Tejay and Manisha’s daughter?”. Priya nodded and naively asked “Yes, do you know them?”. As their conversation unfolded, things started to get more serendipitous. Not only did Mamta Bua and Pankaj Pupa Ji know Priya’s parents, but they kept finding more and more connections between our families. When Rohan finally arrived Priya got him all caught up on the action and he was just as surprised as she was! That evening, Priya called her parents to tell them. They couldn't believe the coincidence and then they started reminiscing. They learned that Priya’s Nana and Ro’s great grandfather knew one another in India over 70 years ago. Priya’s Mom and Suzy Masi remember visiting Rohan’s ancestral home in India. Their families have connections dating back generations. Meanwhile, they met on Bumble…what are the odds? Four and a half years later, they’ve lived in three cities together (including the time that they accidentally quarantined in Canada with Priya’s parents during the early days of COVID), traveled to some amazing places and are now parenting their puppy Gobi together. They’ve become true partners in every sense of the word, embraced each other’s families and have become their own family unit, all thanks to that lucky swipe right. We can’t wait to celebrate the “re” union of our two families in Abu Dhabi in March! Love, Anjali & Sanjay
