We met in the summer of 2018. Priscilla had been serving as a missionary in Mexico and Amos as a youth pastor in SoCal. But that summer everything changed. The youth ministry Amos had been pastoring had grown and the decision had been made to look for another youth pastor. Soon after, Priscilla agreed to come serve as the junior high pastor at the church. From the beginning, many suggested that we should date. But neither of us imagined that they would end up actually dating our co-worker. And yet, after five months of working together, we started dating on January 8, 2019. The first year of dating was both difficult and exciting. Since we were working together in a church setting, we decided not to go public with our relationship for that first year. It was difficult keeping hidden what was becoming such a big part of each of our lives. At the same time, dating in secret forced us to date away from home which made for a lot of adventures which allowed us to get to know each other really well. Our second year of dating, which started off with the excitement of finally going public with our relationship, presented its own set of challenges. The COVID-19 pandemic and the personal impact it had on our personal lives made us (really just Priscilla) wonder whether we would be able to get married in the timeline we had discussed. But on November 1, 2020, by the grace of God, we got engaged! There were still so many uncertainties about the future, but getting married was not one of them. Coming into 2021, we are both filled with so much hope and anticipation for our future. There are so many new doors that God has opened, and we believe that in marriage we'll see God work powerfully in us so that he work through us. We may not have all the answers to what life will look like, but we know that together we are better and together we are stronger. Please keep us in prayer as we prepare for marriage, parenthood, and everything else. That in all things God be glorified.
