How We Met

// October 2017 // Priscilla and Reed’s story started long before Priscilla even realized. Reed used to take weekend trips to visit his sister Leah while she was still in college; one of those times he attended CRU, a weekly campus ministry meeting. Leah made a joke about him needing to meet "the girl leading worship," never thinking he would actually see Priscilla again. // July 2018 // Fast forward almost a year later — the joke resurfaced when Reed would in fact see Priscilla again since she was going to play music for Leah and Ryan's wedding. Ironically, Reed caught the garter at their wedding, while Priscilla unknowingly sat at a nearby table watching it all happen. They officially met at church the next morning and, two weeks later, Reed drove back to Spartanburg from Memphis to take Priscilla on their first date. This was the beginning of their once-a-month “date weekends” for the next nine months, while Reed still lived a whopping 545 miles away (a 16-hour round road trip). // April 2019 // As Reed’s two-year youth residency in Memphis came to an end, Priscilla and Reed started growing weary of FaceTime and longed for more face time. Realizing their need for proximity and consistency, Reed made the decision to move to Spartanburg, SC, to further pursue their relationship.

The Proposal

// October 1, 2019 // Priscilla knew that Reed was going to propose soon, but she thought it would be much later since he kept implying that getting the ring was taking longer than expected. Meanwhile, Reed schemed a proposal plan with Leah, his sister. Leah and Ryan casually asked Priscilla and Reed on a double date for October 1st as a cover story for the proposal. That night, they both nonchalantly headed to a "normal" double date at Passerelle Bistro next to Falls Park on the Reedy River. They beat Leah and Ryan to Greenville for dinner, so they decided to take a walk in the park beforehand. As they walked toward the river, Reed recounted how special their relationship was, how they are better together than apart, and how excited he is to spend the rest of his life serving and glorifying the Lord with Priscilla. Reed quickly got down on one knee with a ring in his hand. Leah and Ryan then emerged from behind the bushes with cameras to capture the moment. The next few moments were a blur — filled with shock, amazement, tears, laughter, and hugs.
