The Story of Us

In 2019, Kaylee had just graduated from Cal Poly SLO with a degree in Event Management and moved to San Francisco to start her first job. Tyler, having graduated from Chico State, returned to the Bay Area and was living in Oakland in his first apartment with two of his groomsmen: Kevin and Charlie. At the time, Tyler was working in catering but ready for a new gig. Both were invited to an end-of-summer BBQ by a mutual friend, Mia. Tyler and Mia had been friends since the 7th grade at Lincoln Middle School, and staying close friends throughout high school and college. Kaylee and Mia went to college together and lived in their sorority house for a year. Little did they know that this casual get-together on September 14th, 2019, would forever change their lives. They immediately hit it off and chatted in the corner alone for hours at the party. Smooth-talking Tyler leaned over and whispered in Kaylee’s ear, “I gotta get your number before you leave.” One week later, they had the best first date of their lives in San Francisco at the Fort Mason food trucks. From that point on, they were smitten with each other, spending most of their free time together—from nights out in San Francisco to park days to dinner dates, they fell in love effortlessly. After 3 years of fun adventures, Kaylee and Tyler moved in together in Oakland. They knew they had not only found their best friend but also their forever partner. On October 28th, 2023, Tyler and Kaylee had plans to meet Tyler’s cousin and his girlfriend, Matt and Kelly, for coffee in San Francisco at Fort Mason (the same place they had their first date), or at least Kaylee thought… Matt and Kelly “weren’t able to make it” at the last minute. Tyler and Kaylee carried on, grabbing a coffee and walking along the water. They stopped at a bench, and Tyler got down on one knee. Kaylee absolutely lost it, not expecting to be proposed to at 9:30 in the morning! The day kept getting better, with Tyler also surprising Kaylee by throwing an engagement party with Kaylee’s sister, Jenna, who lived down the street, her parents flying up from Orange County, and her sister, Tori, flying in from Hawaii. It was an emotional rollercoaster of a day, surrounded by family and her new family who has always felt like home to her. With wedding plans well underway, the happy couple is so excited to bring all of their favorite people together on this special day.
