Anyone that knows me knows that I have been waiting and praying for my future husband for quite awhile! On February 14, 2004 I believe God answered my prayer in that I felt he put on my heart that he had a very special and amazing man that would be my husband someday. So I decided to simply wait for that man. Fast forward almost 15 years from when the Lord first gave me this impression to wait for my husband I was praying (again!) about the man God had and after praying this verse came to my heart, “Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.” Isaiah 43:19 Phil lives in Virginia and is called to a career in the Navy and soon to be serving there as a chaplain. He also works as an associate pastor at Ingleside church in Norfolk, Virginia and he was also praying about his future wife. About a month after he was praying Phil decided to make an online profile on a Christian dating website for people who are interested specifically in missions. He friended me and we started e-mailing each other and fortunately shortly after a few days of that he was coming to California for work, specifically to El Centro and we were both excited to meet in person! The day we met was February 12, 2019. After meeting we both had a very deep sense that this was it. And whether is was in person (more work trips to both Coronado and El Centro), texting, phone calls, or FaceTime, we just never stopped talking. Of all the places I had imagined I would meet my husband the desert was definitely not one of them. And after all those years of waiting and praying and never meeting anybody that even came close to the type of man God placed in my heart, here God was working, bringing Phil from across the country, and bringing both of us to the desert of El Centro. This truly was an experience of God doing a new thing, making a stream in the desert and a road in the wilderness.
