We took our engagement photos here at the Indianapolis Museum of Art! The galleries are surrounded by gardens, water features, and over a hundred acres of woodland. During the month of October, the museum hosts Harvest Nights. This nightly ticketed event includes a spooky (not scary) outdoor walking experience that guides guests around thousands of glowing pumpkins.
Known affectionately as Mass Ave, this five-block area is ripe with theaters, restaurants, art galleries, and, most attractively for shoppers, a number of eclectic, independent boutiques. You'll encounter unique finds on each block. Venture to the Athenaeum for a stein of German lager in the historic Rathskeller biergarten, try local craft beers at Ralston's Drafthouse, or sip a cocktail at the prohibition-era ball&biscuit. Foodies can indulge in American-modern cuisine at Mesh or take down a platter of tacos at Bakersfield.
A community of food, drink and all things Indy. People come to The Garage to get fed by the best the region has to offer: entrepreneurs who push boundaries, shape tastes and put Indianapolis on the culinary map. The Garage Food Hall is a marketplace for locals, transplants, visitors and everyone in between searching for an authentic taste of Indy.
America's only cultural urban state park offers a unique blend of green space and cultural attractions- including the Indianapolis Zoo, White River Gardens; the Eiteljorg Museum of American Indians and Western Art; the NCAA Hall of Champions; the IMAX Theater; the Indiana State Museum; Victory Field and a premier outdoor concert venue, the TCU Amphitheater at White River State Park. Visitors may elect to tour the park by pedal, by boat, or by good-old-fashioned foot.
St. Elmo has earned a national reputation for its exceptional food, drink and service (as evidenced by the many photos of celebrity diners that grace the establishment's walls). Reservations are highly recommended, as is the restaurant's signature shrimp cocktail--a diabolic concoction ranked by The Travel Channel as the "world's spiciest food." St. Elmo was honored in 2012 by the James Beard Foundation when it was recognized as one of America's Classics, and by Forbes as one of the world's "10 Great Classic Restaurants Well Worth Visiting." Located on the second floor, St. Elmo 1933 Lounge is an intimate night spot which is a natural extension of the warmth and historic charm of the restaurant below. Enjoy a signature cherry and vanilla infused bourbon cocktail while relaxing at the circa 1870s bar.
The museum has amassed one of the world's largest, and most varied collections of racing, antique and classic cards, including more than 30 that have won the Indianapolis 500. It offers 37,500 square feet of exhibit space featuring cars, trophies, photographs, racing records, memorabilia, and fine art celebrating more than a century of the innovation, thrill, and cultural significance of motor racing at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
