Michaela's Perspective Twelve years ago, Ms. Roseto made the best decision of her life, making Peter and I Athletes helping Athlete partners. Peter didn't know this at the time, but I had the biggest crush on him. My friends all knew, but nothing was ever said until 2013. Thankfully, Meghan Hines (bridesmaid) told Tom, who told Peter that I had that crush on him. That same night Peter texted me "hey, can you get my sister into Athletes Helping Athletes?", and I was hooked. After spending many summer nights sneaking into North Village Tavern together, I knew this was something special. Peter's Perspective Circa 2010 Michaela and I were lucky enough to be partnered in South Side High School's most exclusive club, Athletes helping Athletes. What I thought was a mentorship for kids and a college resume booster, soon evolved into something much bigger. It took me a few years and some encouraging insight to finally ask Michaela out in the Summer of 2013. I took her to out on our first date to Pop's in Island Park and the rest, as they say, is history!
After a long night of dancing and drinks at the New York Athletic Club on September 9th (Peter's Birthday), Peter suggested we take off the following day and continue the birthday celebrations on the beach, so off to Long Beach we went. We spent the day on the beach right outside of the Allegria hotel... watching a wedding party proceed to take the cheesiest wedding pictures I have ever seen in my life. After hours of laughing and swearing to never hire that photographer, when our day came, we took a walk to the jetties where Peter got down on one knee. From there, Peter and I drove to Nanny's to "tell her the big news", but when we arrived our families were there to celebrate with us. It truly was the perfect night full of everything that is important to us family, friends and of course food. You would think after 8 years of dating, you would have some idea that an engagement would be near, but that day I didn't have a clue. Peter and our families made September 10th so beyond special. It truly was a night to remember.
