We were in the same friend group for awhile before either of us caught feelings. Our first interaction was brief and neither of us had thought much of it. We added each other on snapchat shortly after and began conversing frequently back and forth. Many of our conversations involved food, hobbies, family, and the boring surface stuff. Makayla caught feelings first and would try to dig deeper, but Peter didn't catch on. She decided to let it ride out in hopes it would happen naturally. And after much time... it did! During a day trip to watch a soccer tournament (that Makayla invited herself to) we talked and laughed the whole time we were together. Peter came home that night extra smiley, according to his mother. Makayla's mom also pointed out that same night the fact that she definitely had feelings for Peter, to which she denied them. After a few months of talking, flirting, lots of laughs, and wendy's/walking dates we couldn't help but admit we were falling for the other. On November 1st, 2020 Peter made it official and marked the start of our incredible journey together. It was the best day ever... until the proposal of course.
We had been hanging out for several hours before the question was popped, and Peter was so calm and collected and gave absolutely no hints. Makayla was pretty clueless from the start and thought it was to celebrate her birthday and that she got the job she interviewed for! So, we made a plan to go to Grand Haven and walk the whole boardwalk, go eat dinner at Kirby's, and enjoy the sunset from the hill we went to often on several dates when we began dating. After dinner, Makayla kept asking why we must walk to the top of this hill, because it was straight up and quite a hike. Peter just kept saying, "The sunset will be worth it!" (He was right that it would be worth it;). Once we got to the top we conversed for quite a while before he pulled out a love note that Makayla had thought was her birthday card. It was much better than that. He then got down on one knee and asked me to be his wife. Never have we smiled so big in our lives. The most perfect day to the start of our greatest adventure yet... marriage.
