One of the largest urban forests in the country, this 2,100-acre property is a great place to walk right next to downtown Aiken. We especially like the Coker Springs and Clark Road entrances.
This is a lovely little botanical garden right in Aiken, and is a peaceful place to walk around, relax, and admire some beautiful trees.
This preserve is out in the boonies, but is one of the most well-managed longleaf pine savannas in South Carolina and offers a good chance to see some rare wildlife species.
Although in another state, Phinizy Swamp is not far from Aiken and is one of the best birding spots in the region. Birder or not, when you see a painted bunting up close, you won't ever forget it!
The tallest canopy east of the Mississippi can be found within Congaree National Park, and a boardwalk takes you past some seriously-massive trees. This park is about an hour and twenty minutes from Aiken, but is absolutely worth the trip if you have the time.
A fun place to sit outside with a quality beer, right outside of Aiken's Horse District.
Our favorite local brewery and less than 30 minutes from Aiken. They have excellent beers and a cozy, relaxed atmosphere.
We know that it's surprising but just trust us: the food here is incredible.
The best ice cream in Aiken.
Lots of options for quality food in a classy atmosphere, but with reasonable prices.
