Peter and Danielle met in 2019 when their families joined each other on a missionary trip to New Mexico. Danielle was actively serving Christ, Peter was a man running from the presence of God, yet both had no idea that they would ever be together... although Peter had hopes. During gatherings, he performed gestures such as supporting her music ministry by giving her instruments and impressing her with his Italian cooking, yet their walks in life were still worlds apart from each other, and she remained aloof. It was during this time that the Lord began to work on Peter's heart, warning him of the near approaching mercy line in his life. Amidst the many ways that the Lord spoke to Peter beckoning him back, the Lord also revealed to him that there was a blessing waiting for him... and it was that Sunday after hearing the Lord's call that he went to church and rededicated his life to the Lord Jesus Christ. Meanwhile, Danielle was living a trying life in San Diego with her parents, finishing her degree, working several jobs, and all the while facing inner turmoil at the surrounding conditions in her world. At a point where the trials of life were weighing heavily on her, she made a trip to Phoenix. While each one's individual hardships came to a pinnacle, they later came to know that their mutual attendance in church on that Sunday was no coincidence, but rather, a divinely predestinated moment. It wasn't until Peter's time came to be called back to his life as a son of God that a "veil was torn" and Danielle began to take notice of him though she had seen him so many times before. With Peter rebuilding his life in Arizona from ground zero and Danielle still living in California, their friendship began to form at long distance. Peter was excited to share all about his rekindled faith and Danielle, while hesitant, was drawn to the potential she saw in this man. One day Peter placed a fleece before the Lord (Judges 6:37). He wanted to know that there was truly hope for this friend to become more one day, so He asked God to lay it on Danielle's heart to give him a CD. Only a month later, Danielle surprised Peter with seven CD's of Christian music, and one of which contained a playlist dedicated to his testimony. Through prayer and guidance, however, it was quickly determined that it was too soon for a relationship and that time and space needed to be given for necessary growth. Peter kept building. Danielle kept praying. And the heartstrings in both individuals would not let go through the season of silence and waiting apart.
One day, Peter received prayer from an elder of the church commissioning the Angel of the Lord to seek out and draw in his spouse. A whole state away, Danielle felt the pull on her heart, though embarrassed, to call in and ask for prayer on the very same thing. Inspired, the elder declared right then and there that a deep had responded to the deep that was calling, which we now know to be the truth. Some trials arose on their halted relationship, as opportunities for other paths in life came potentially preventing them from ever being together. Peter never stopped hoping, remaining on watchful standby for his opportunity as he continued growing stronger in his Walk with the Lord, and no matter how much time passed, Danielle could not release her thoughts of him. As a young woman she had prayed very specifically for traits in a future husband that she had begun to believe did not exist in anyone.... until she met Peter. It was those same prayers that ended the season of uncertainty and waiting when met with the Word of God preached at a church camp in August 2021. Danielle had buried her vision of marrying the man of her dreams out of fear, but when she heard a minister proclaim that it was time to dig down and pull out the desire of heart that was dismissed as fantasy, for it was actually the Lord's picture of what was already hers by faith, she knew that those prayers she had prayed so long ago were not "daydreaming" and were actually the Lord preparing her heart to be drawn to the very man that was predestinated to be for her. After a rekindling conversation at that camp, a beautifully intentional friendship began.
Over the next year, they bonded on topics as trivial as their love of donuts and others as profound as the complexities of their upbringings and personal challenges in life. She was awestruck by his compassion, wisdom, sincerity, strong mind, and understanding nature. He fell for her grounded personality, the way she worshipped, her intellect, kindness... and curly hair. They saw each other through victories such as graduating university and moving states to challenges such as experiencing loss of loved ones and spiritual battles. Through it all, the Lord layed out "breadcrumbs" of confirmation paving their way to their intimate bond together. Understanding the importance of being certain and the deepness of the bond continually growing between the two, Danielle sought the Lord for a confirmation the she was supposed to be courting with Peter, and also placed a fleece. She asked God that, if it was His will for them to be together, Peter would give her a keychain, bracelet, or some form of jewelry. The day came when Peter told Danielle that he had something special for her - a gift that he had purchased and held on to even when they had taken time apart and hopes for a relationship looked bleak. It was a gold necklace formed in the shape of her name and accented with single diamond. Other outstanding moments served to give them confirmation and a sense of direction in their relationship. As Danielle would pray for Peter on very specific matters in his Christian walk, Peter would later report to her that God had been dealing with him in his mind on the very thing that Danielle had been praying about. Peter received a dream that prepared him for a pivotal point in their relationship in such a way that mere man could not orchestrate. In these moments and many others, Jesus Christ made His presence known to them in their individual lives and as the third participant in their newfound bond of love.
The time came to decide if they were ready to take the next step. Both of them searched their hearts for the answer to a key question - could they no longer live without each other? By this point, the answer for both was a clear resounding no... they could not live without each other.. and yes, they were ready to commit to a life side by side. On Easter of 2023 in the presence of both of their families, Peter got down on one knee and proposed! In tears unlike any she had ever experienced, Danielle uttered her response which was a most certain "yes"! And so begins their lives together!
