In a magical land called the Internet.
Perry came over carrying a chai tea latte from Starbucks. He handed it to me and said “best boyfriend ever?” and I said oh yeah I love you! Little did I know that would be the last time I would call him my boyfriend. Soon, he would be upgraded to fiance. He asked if I wanted to go on a hike and I said sure why not, it's a beautiful day. I asked him what time and where and without hesitation he said 2 and Garden of the Gods. I started to tease him about our first hike there. It was our 5th date and we got to the top of a trail and there was this beautiful spot with an amazing view of the city. I thought it would be the perfect moment for our first kiss. I was giving him all the signs and he didn't pick up on any of them. Over the course of our relationship, I have brought up this moment often. I brought it up that day and he smiled and said haha yep I remember that. During the drive I started to think this could be it, this could be the day he proposed. When we got to Garden of the Gods Perry kept passing all of the parking lots and he finally pulled into the same parking lot as our 5th date. I asked if we were at the same spot as our 5th date and I could see him getting slightly nervous as he answered yes. We walked up to the top, the same spot I wanted our first kiss to be and I thought oh my gosh this is it! This is the moment. He said there's a bench over there do you want to sit down? We walked over to the bench and I sat down and patted beside me for Perry to sit. He hesitated and instead of sitting, he got down on one knee. I immediately started crying tears of joy. He slowly pulled out the ring and said “Courtney, you are the love of my life. I never thought I would meet someone as amazing as you. I brought you to this spot to redeem myself. I knew you were the one when I was out hunting and I couldn't stop picturing life and a family with you. So, Courtney Ann Leinen, will you marry me?” I choked out an extremely happy yes and pulled him into a kiss.
