One may wonder why Scott thought an insult to her favorite sports team would win Emily's heart. One may wonder why Emily even responded, after receiving several similar messages from terrible dating app trolls. Maybe it was Scott's winning smile, or his charming blue eyes (it certainly wasn't the fact he went to Michigan State...) but Emily responded with a laugh and a question about growing up in Michigan, and soon they went on their first date at Union Market. Scott and Emily fell in love in the fall of 2020, having shared a wonderful pandemic-inspired trip to Acadia National Park and many nights gaming at Scott's place in Eckington, or sharing home-cooked meals in Em's apartment in Navy Yard. Separated by only 2 miles, Em and Scott spent the first year or so of their relationship biking up and down 4th St, before settling in NoMa, where their love story began. For the last 2 years, they've lived across the street from where they had their first kiss, and are constantly reminded of the many wonderful moments they've shared. Em and Scott's love started with their hockey rivalry, but it really showed they came from similar backgrounds, with similar goals for life - the same goals they saw their parents attain: successful careers, big families, friends that become family, a lake house up north, and of course, a loving partner with whom to grow and share in life's journeys. Emily and Scott feel so much love for each other, for the families who have welcomed and supported them and for the friends who have witnessed and inspired their love. They cannot wait to celebrate their love and commitment to each other with the people most important to them!
