We're engaged!

One of the things we like to talk about is how we are both utterly astounded we ended up dating. Let me explain. We met on January 25, 2016....both of us a little jaded about online dating and loaded with (unfortunately) an arsenal of first date experiences. We agreed to have our first date at a classy spot…Honeyhole Sandwiches in Capitol Hill, Seattle. For those who don't know of Honeyhole, it has amazing sandwiches (which we still enjoy to this day!) but not known for the most elegant of spaces. I would describe it as a fast food/dive bar. Cheap beer. Great AND cheap food. Not much more to ask for! It was ideal for one drink and jetting out as quickly as possible if the situation required it. We ran into each other walking into the place. Conversation was awkward and I never expected to hear from Paul again. Later I would find out that Paul had already had “dinner” lined up with his friend, Jared, right before our scheduled date at the same place! The next day when I got a text asking to make plans to eat sushi together (one of my favorite foods), I was surprised. We made this our first real dinner date. Again, I never expected to hear from him again. This happened a few times…coincidentally Paul was telling his friends he didn’t think I was interested in him and I had told my friends I’d probably never hear from him again. Yet we kept meeting up. If not for Paul’s perseverance, we wouldn’t be here today! We met January 2016, started living together unofficially April 2016 / officially January 2017 and got engaged on June 25, 2017. Both of us work in finance, love excel and can’t make decisions. We love the sun and outdoor activities so HI was an easy choice as a wedding venue. We ski/snowboard in the winter and wakeboard/boat in the summer. We also enjoy working out together at OrangeTheory Fitness but Maya’s obsession is Pure Barre which Paul will only attend when beer is proffered. We’re so excited and blessed to have you join us on this special day.
