The temperature here in New Orleans is humid and warm, even in October. You should plan for this event as a late summer wedding. Lightweight cocktail attire will suit you perfectly well. We will be doing a brief secondline, and so we recommend wearing shoes that you are comfortable walking in for a few blocks.
We ask that only invited guests attend the ceremony and reception, where space is limited. For all of our other events, such as the Welcome Drinks, After Party, and Sunday Brunch, you are welcome to invite others.
Capulet does not open its doors early. Doors will open to people who are not in the wedding party promptly at 5pm. If you are in the neighborhood a little bit early, you may want to hang out at a nearby cafe (Petite Clouet Cafe, 3100 Royal St) or bar (Markey's Bar, 640 Louisa St).
A New Orleans style reception means that the reception will be informal with no assigned seats. In this style of reception, there are enough seats for a little over half of the guests because we assume guests will spend part of the time walking around socializing.
Most wedding events are in the Marigny/Bywater neighborhood and within walking distance of the recommended hotels. Because of this, we have not arranged other transportation. The ceremony and reception venue does not have a parking lot, and so we recommend that you carpool or take a taxi because of limited parking in the neighborhood. For Sunday morning breakfast in City Park, there is ample parking next to the cafe.
A second line is a type of parade that happens in New Orleans, typically at weddings or funerals. This parade will be no longer than 15 minutes and will be routed through the neighborhood after the ceremony but before the reception. We would love for everyone to join us in this unique New Orleans tradition. We recommend that you wear shoes that you are comfortable walking in for a few blocks.
We ask that guests follow public health recommendations from the CDC and local public health officials. We are fully up-to-date on our COVID vaccinations, including the Fall 2023 booster shot that was recently released and is recommended by the CDC. The Ceremony, Secondline, and Sunday Brunch will all be outside, but the Reception will be indoors. We fully support any guests who wish to mask for any or all of the events.
