Mid-October may be the best time to see the Fall colors in the Forest Preserve. Pat and Sam took their engagement photos here in October 2019 and loved the views and being outdoors.
Chicago Botanic Garden
A 20-minute drive from Wheeling is the gem of the Chicago Botanic Garden. Ramble through nature for a sensory overload of brilliant colors, textures, and scents. Pat and Sam venture out to the Botanic for runs and bike rides.
Tee Up Chevy Chase Country Club
Fun Fact: This is where Pat and Sam are getting married! Take some time before or after the wedding and reserve your tee time. You won't catch Sam on the green, but Pat enjoys golfing with friends throughout the year.
Eat your heart out on Restaurant Row
If you love to explore new restaurants or eat at your favorite restaurants, this is your place. From Bob Chinn’s Crab House, Buca di Beppo, Chicago Bagel & Bialy Deli II, D’Agostino’s Pizzeria and Pub, Lynfred Winery, Superdawg Drive-In, Tuscany Wheeling or if you are up for non-meat options, try Purple Sprout Cafe and Juice Bar. Or enjoy some of Pat and Sam's favorites at Cooper’s Hawk Winery & Restaurant and Benihana. All are located on Milwaukee Ave, just up the street from Chevy Chase.
Visit Historic Downtown Long Grove
Drive fifteen minutes from Wheeling Town Center to discover an entirely different shopping experience at Historic Downtown Long Grove, where charming buildings are fronted with quaint local shops. Cross under the covered bridge and peruse penny candy and antique shops, and make sure to visit annual festivals like the Chocolate Fest, Strawberry Fest, and Vintage Holidays celebration. Downtown Long Grove is especially picturesque in the Fall. Pat and Sam were able to explore the Winter Sleigh Ride and if you are looking for some yummy small business treats, check it out!
