Pat and Erica met on New Year's Eve in 2016 while at a mutual friend’s party in Allston. Erica just finished her first semester of law school and Pat was a few months into his job after graduating from Northeastern. Pat’s best man tells this story in the following way, “we were holding down the beer pong table, when this girl came up and distracted Pat with the fact that she was also from New Jersey…and we know how much Pat loves New Jersey.” Little did they know that after a lot of bonding over the motherland and a kiss at midnight, they would keep finding their way back to each other over the years. Example number one, Pat lost Erica’s phone number and had to ask that mutual friend for it. Despite that friend describing Pat as “he thinks he’s funnier than he is,” Erica agreed to grabbing tacos and laughed at his jokes all night. Their love story took many twists and turns over the next year and a half, until the couple finally got their act together in the Fall of 2018. Since they spent so many months figuring out that they were in love with each other, it was no surprise when Pat said “I love you” first while Erica was cleaning under a table and then banged her head out of shock. Over the next four years, Pat and Erica made countless memories traveling the world together and back and forth on I-90 during their two years living in separate states, raising their puppy, Merry, and seeing each other through celebrations and hardship. Fast forward to October 29, 2022: The Proposal. Pat and Erica just finished an 8-mile (no, this isn’t Detroit) walking tour of London. Erica missed all of the clues that Pat was going to propose: like he kept trying to divert her strict itinerary for the day to walk in some park near the restaurant they were going to and she mistook his staring at her, in hindsight very lovingly, for him being weird. After wanting to make a quick stop at the hotel room to freshen up, Erica and Pat walk into a plate of dessert adorning the message “Congratulations!”...thanks to Erica’s family who share her tendency to go all-in with their excitement. After some quick thinking, Pat blurted out the big question and barely waited for a “yes” before running to his suitcase to get the ring. The couple still are laughing about how this proposal is the epitome of their love together, being up for any and all adventures! And as if their life together couldn’t get more exciting with the wedding around the corner, they recently purchased their first home together! Pat and Erica are beyond excited to celebrate their love on October 28 (fun fact: Erica’s grandparents’ anniversary) with their loved ones at St. Vincent’s and the Cedar Hill Country Club in New Jersey!
